Changing standards create Svyazinvest mobile opening through Skylink

The State is to enter Russia's mobile telephone market, after announcing the acquisition of operator Skylink, with experts doubting it can get a foothold against the country's Big 3.



There is risks in everything, but the data market, in a country plagued by poor fixed line connections isn't that stupid. The game is access the current customer base, always good for any market, then have these with you as you move to Long Term Evolution (LTE) which will cover convergence, and access to a bigger market. They are actually concentrating on their market. I really don't think they are aiming for circuit switched voice. I think they are going straight after the data market, which is where they are at the moment. Not sure I would put my money on it, but I don't think it is ridiculous either. Let's see what happens, interesting!
