Ukraine pays off gas debt to Russia

According to Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko, Ukraine has paid off all its natural gas debts to Russia.
Meanwhile, speaking at a meeting of the Russian-Ukrainian Interstate Commission in Kiev, Russia’s Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov confirmed almost all the gas issues between the two countries had been resolved.
He also added that ten-year gas supply contracts could be possible.
“Solving gas problems in Russian-Ukrainian relations opens the way for solid interaction and development of relations for many years ahead – for 8-10 years - with transparent, understandable contracts both for gas deliveries and gas transit,” said Zubkov.
