Uralsviyazinform posts 1H 2009 Net Income of 1.65 billion Roubles

Urals region fixed line operator, Uralsviyazinform, has posted a 1H 2009 Net Profit of 1.65 billion Roubles under IFRS.
The bottom line is down just 2% from the 1.69 billion Rouble net result posted for 1H 2008, with EBITDA rising 8% year on year to 7.89 billion Roubles, on a 0.4% year on year increase in revenues to 20.10 billion Roubles.
The company attributed its resilience to the global credit crisis and Russia’s economic downturn to a 33% jump in revenues from its internet services and 2% rise in local call revenues, coupled with a 1% fall in operating expenses, stemming from a 13% reduction in staffing costs.
