Yandex, the largest search engine in Russia, is launching a latin alphabet version of their platform for foreign websites, reports Kommersant.
I agree with Enrique on this one. China would be a good market for Yandex to grow. Also if Yandex has a good privacy rules and isn't a back stabbing giant, they could definitely go somewhere. I almost exclusively use Yandex now anyways. They need to improve their language translator.
The Google language translator is not so good, either. It butchers grammar when translating Russian to English, and I can sometimes do a better job of translating with a dictionary (although much slower). I wonder if Yandex is useable for a foreigner who doesn't know much Russian?
Chinese+Indian+Turkic+Irish+Urdoo+Iranian+Japanese+Arabic+Several Billion speakers of other languages, can also be a target market for this Russian firm. Its better to enter swiftly and get a mass reach in this untapped territory. The new revolutionary things will always get a warm welcome in these region. Funding+Infrastructure+Intellect+Human resources are enough here, to get a Russian feel. Its not only worthy for money, Rather a ""RELATIONSHIP"" of these people. Because if You fail to show the generation a particular illusion, the next generation will take them as granted for good...

Perhaps Yandex should have a Chinese script given the fact that Google has left China, so there is more space for competition (even if probably there are enough Chinese and Japanese search engines)....
