Smart move: Russia’s Central Bank promotes plastic cards with chips to avert €100 mn in fraud

As bank card fraud increases, the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) is planning to combat the problem by inserting a chip into them. Last year Russian banks and their clients lost about €100 mln from swindlers getting access to card codes.

Good for Russia ,all banks in the U.S. should do the same to protect its citizens from fraud!Russia has some good practices that we need to employ to protect its citizens from fraud!

We use those chipped cards for more then a decade, but the still do allow abuse

Skimm ing is still possible because there is still a magnetic stip that can be copied. skimmers copy the data to another card & use them in foreign countries where cash machines & shop's only use the magnetic strips
