Are computers dangerous for young children's health?
MihalMihalich 4 November, 2007, 05:00 Dear Ladies & Gentlemen IMHO Computers are dangerous to all people. There was a lot of research done in the field. Pregnant women use computers constantly they have high risk of miscarriage. Men that work with laptops on their lap have high chance of becoming impotent. People that extensively play computer games usually have short-term memory loss. Microprocessor is essentially a microwave and we know what microwave does. Lets talk about monitors and eyes. People suffer eyestrains and even eye burns. The cause could be different: bad quality, screen flickering, brightness & contrast, coloring, appropriate lighting in the room, ., etc, etc. Even choice of a chair should be appropriate. Unfortunately there is no easily accessible guides or manuals to recommend people on how to use computers safely. Seems strange, because you get manual with recommendations how to safely use whatever… for almost everything cars, household appliances. Best Regards.

Sam 4 November, 2007, 07:39 Everthing in excess is dangerous to your health.Even breathing pure oxygen will kill you. Well controlled use of the computer stimulates learning. However being addicted to it will darmage their social skills and health in a big way. Its up to the parents to regulate the time the child spends with the computer, just as they would with what and how much he or she eats and drinks.

Excessive time with the computer encourages delusions, escapisms, introvert’s behavior, lack of physical exercises and most important - a reluctance to read and experience REAL LIFE! Too much of a good thing - as one wise man said - makes GOOD turn UGLY!

Norman 4 November, 2007, 16:40 Computers are like television and mobile phones, tools in communication. It's not the device, yet what you do with it. Infact mobile phones and computers can help us get a lot more done, thus allowing more leisure time. Still, I consider the mental health and medical issues with today's technology.
