Concerned at where the world is going and my place in it, all mainstream UK news media treating us all as children, RT is the only channel for news for grownups.

However, I was still surprised at RT talking about global resorces and comsumption only in a capitalist context.

Is it naive of me to think that a hithereto socialist country should know better? Or was Marxist understanding of socio-economics in Soviet education so deficient that the world is understood now only in a capitalist context?

Simple 1917 Bolsheviks who couldn't read or right knew that a capitalist view of the world is that there are two classes, capitalist minority owning means of production, and non-owning majority owning labour power. Global poverty is the majority with no access to the MOP, not the ridiculous over population nonsense we get where capitalist philosophy dominates and controls education, publishing, media and therefore what most people think in the "West", which calls itself the free world - which is nothing more than the freedom of capital to dominate, control and exploit.

But ultimately, as we know, the law of the falling rate of profit will ultimately decide - hopefully without nuclear catastrophe.

I think the world is now socio-economically on the FROP decisive road out of capitalism.

I was born in the bombed out East End of London when Red Army soldiers turned around Nazi tanks at Stalingrad, saving me from more Nazi bombs. It will be an interesting world still within my lifetime, as, hopefuuly we wre approaching an economic Kursk.

Than you Sovietsky Soldata, too many of you lay in the soil of our Europe or the ashes of places like Buchenwald.

Where people who think like me end up will be a matter for future philosophically, ideologically and academically honest historians and economists.

JAD 5 November, 2011, 03:07 A motto of mine is "trust but verify". In order to verify you have to do your "due diligence". I've done quitea bit of study in reliable sources on the "transformation" of the Soviet economy circa 1991until 1997 or thereabouts.I am not an expert,I'm an interested and loyal U.S. citizen. I also am dedicated to discovering what isgoing on in my country. By studying what has happened in Russia, and a number of other countries eg Chile inthe 70's,Poland, China and others I feel that what is happening here now makes more sense.Crosstalks session today with Lavelle and the four experts on the Russian area(Nov 4 2011 did little to educate theaudience on the events surrounding the fall of Communism. They stayed so closely "on point" that an opportunityto broaden the viewer's understanding was lost.  Actually the participants looked very very closed.Mr Lavelle, where was a little spark? It was surprisingly absent. If rt channel is open to involve all countries  Isit fear? And yes indeed you stayed on point. Could you have another panel session to help wake up my brothers andsisters in the West? You have an excellent show.      JAD

HARPER 7 November, 2011, 20:01 The U.S. can never generate new jobs for export products made in the US, the workforce require too much money to produce those goods!  Gore Vidal got it right, the U.S. is finished as a major manufacturer of products destined for markets outside the U.S. except for those on it's borders!
The U.S. is finished as a major player Re: Global Export Markets!

Mem 11 November, 2011, 16:10 Hi Peter, it's a wonderful show you have put together, and I would like to make a suggestion as to a future panel and topic I believe would be interesting. In light of the current economic crises, capitalism is being put into question and so we seem to be at a point where the future is anyone's guess. I'd like it very much, if you could investigate potential long-term future outcomes with a panel that could consist of either Michio Kaku (futurist), Paul Raskin (futurist), Michael Schrage (strong believer in capitalism), Jeremy Rifkin (political consultant with strong concerns for the future), and perhaps even Peter Joseph (film-maker).
I hope you will consider this, and keep up the excellent work. :)

Th-th-th 16 January, 2012, 23:15 Hello Peter,

What do you disinfect your studios monitors with after (some of) the disgusting American guests have finished spewing their hate and sad propaganda?

Are bio-hazard suits required or do you have to replace the monitors once a week?...Those poooor monitors :-(

I hope no one there has contracted any diseases from having had wondered too close to a monitor after a show. May I suggest using robots to clean or dispose of the monitors?

P.S.

Thanks for the show. It is entertaining and informative...even if some of your guests cause my ears to bleed and make me want to run outside and bang my head against the sidewalk.

Dear Peter,

Your programme is very well balanced and illuminating. I am an avid watcher. However, I would like to be given a chance to participate as a guest to show how the West is failing and why the West is failing in their foreign policy. A new angle with emphasis on CAUSE and EFFECT. I come from a family of thinkers and intellectuals politicians and from an early age we were taught how to analyze the political events scientifically and objectively, that is what people in the US appear to lack or delibertately distort the truth for short term and ill-thought gains with disaterous consequences for the world.

Thanks, for your consideration.

Rewi Tihape 22 February, 2012, 12:13 RE: Iran Getting Nukes "threat" discussed 22 Feb. I wonder if Isreal really feels so threatened by Iran getting Nukes & wonder if the USA really cares so much about Isreal, I also seriously doubt Iran really hates Isreal that much. My conspiracy theory is they are really worried about Iran nuking (or threatening to nuke) the oil fields, that would be real power and would really scare them. Pretenting to be concerned about people when it's really about resources is common with U.S foreign policy & the history of war. I know it's just a conspiracy theory, it's a rotten job but someones got to do it. The whole family enjoys your show & RT generally. Cheers

Sagidragon 11 March, 2012, 22:02 I live in Denver, Colorado and watch your News program, RT, all the time but something strange has happened.  The channel that carries your program along with news from different News organizations around the world from differnt countries is a public brodcasting channel and it has been taken off the air, the channel is still active but no longer is showing the World News Organizations shows, it is strange but I understand that there is allot happening that the conservative government and organizations in the USA don't want us to know about.  Is there anybody in different cities that are experiencing the same thing.  I don't have cable, just the converter box which has the PBS stations, I get this on a program channel at 12.3 which is now broadcasting the same things that is on channel 12.2 and no World News Organizatins, on Channel 12.1 I get Democracy Now and the Germen News Channel, DW.

I live in rural N/E Thailand ; we have a free satellite service connected to our televisions .  The only English speaking world news channel is from Russian Television .  Your programme Cross Talk is a must for me , without fail , every week . I find your debates enormously interesting and informative .  I know that you have been a university professor , but I marvel at your knowledge on such a wide variety of subjects .

You have lived in Russia for a while now ; I associate people who live and work in Russia as taking a Russian point of view in contrast to the western view that still considers Russia as much the same as the USSR . I question my own view of world affairs , wondering whether I am not influenced by Russian propaganda .

When I view your debates , I am struck by your intelligent participants and their varying views as well as yours .  I am listening to common sense , from whatever political persuasion .  I am English , but have lived in Italy , before coming to Thailand . My daughter is married to a German and lives in Berlin ; my two sons live in the US , so generally we have a broader viw of the world than most families .  I am of the opinion that the vast majority of Americans are little educated and have little knowledge of world or home affairs . I even wonder whether my well educated sons take a bland view of life , as long as their supermarket shelves are filled .  I am so glad you had a debate on Ron Paul , whom I think would be the best choice for the next president .  Perhaps , if not selected by the GOP , he should stand as an independent .

I am slightly concerned , that I tend to consider the Russian point of view as correct ; in such matters as Iran , Syria , Afganistan .  I am seeig the USA , Britain and Europe as the bad guys in the world , whereas for years the USSR ( Russia ) has been seen as the bad guy .  I am a mid-conservative and should be seeing the US , Britain and EU as good guys .  I see David Cameron as totally incompetent , a yesman to US or EU policy .  Obama is on the payroll of Goldman Sachs .

I consider myself completely open minded , but begin to wonder whether that is really so .

Dear Peter ,

In my concentration on what I wanted to write , I ommitted to address you personally .

Thank you so much for your excellent debates , that give us viewers food for thought .

We live in a dreadful world .  We can be thankful for Russia and China vetoing rash warmongering decisions at the UN .

Best  Wishes !!!

David

Pippilin 21 March, 2012, 23:51 I think you are terrific, Mr. Lavelle, as is "Cross Talk".  I've never before met a viewpoint-show moderator who bore such a pleasant exterior over the heart of a tiger!  Cheers for letting your guests know-- very nicely-- who is in charge.
