Is Iran a step closer to creating intercontinental missiles?
Ragan 7 February, 2009, 15:36 I believe that the Balfour Declaration is as illegal and immoral as murder, genocide and massacres. Hence I do not believe that Israel has now or never had any right to Arab lands.I am also a physical scientist and believe that religions throughout the world is a major problem. Christians for instance are taught from infancy that Jews are Gods chosen people and the governments of the west patronize this concept as a method of catering to the ignorance of the people. The Church'of the USA are given tax free status and the church's therfore feed this religious nonsense to the people as a service to the government and to fill their own coffers. Iran and Islam has not exactly been the best of friends to the outside world, nor have they tried to fit in, rather they expect the world to cater to them. I have hopes that one day soon the Sciences will prove beyond a doubt that conscious life exists after death but that there is not now nor has there ever been a God or Gods except for the father and mother that have conceived each and every one of us. And our love and respect should be to worrship them because as long as they live you can see them, feel them. They are real, they feed and nourish you and love you for sure. But to say that God and invisible creation of the mind cannot possible manipulate anything in the material world to alter your life in any way, but the physical forces of this universe can destroy any life, army or even a country. The forces of Tornados, Hurricanes, Tsunami's forest fires, mudslides Volcan's are natural physical forces more powerful than man and muchmore destructive . If all of mankind showed more respect for these powerful energies and worked together to control them rather than thinking of how to kill each other and to divert the energies of war and bloodshed to fighting to combat these violent forces. Iran has the right to nuclear energy to power the lights and machines of their cities as does anyone. But one thing must be done to control the violence and arrogance of both Iran and Israel.

DENNIS JUNIOR 7 February, 2009, 23:39 I think that Iran is stepping closer to creating intercontinental missiles...And, that should scare that world into acting upon the threat, before it happens.

David 8 February, 2009, 11:23 Pakistan and India have both got these weapons together with Israel, North Korea, USA and England. But, here we go again, USA and England dictating to those countries they feel fit to dictate to as to what they can and cannot do. Iran has every right to have these weapons, why not? One has not seen USA and England invade Pakistan and India and North Korea for the same reasons as they did in Iraq (Iraq did not have any by the way, this was false information given by the politicians and their departments - CIA MI5 and the likes) to create a war which they thought they would win. No doubt USA andEngland are edging for the same situation against Iran. Perhaps Obama will change things, it is early days yet. England needs a person strong enough to stand and say enough is enough instead of bowing to these who seem to have the power.

Christopher 8 February, 2009, 12:09 This boils down to who has the right to tell others what they can or they cannot have. Why is it that the west always thinks Russia, China and others in the East are always a threat? Bear in mind, please, which country used nuclear bombs against civilians - it wasn't anyone from the East; Which country used chemical and biological warfare against civilians - again, it certainly wasn't anyone from the East, so why are they the ones always portrayed as the baddies? Now, Iran says it needs nuclear power for electricity etc. before it runs out of oil. It also says it needs to invest in this now so it has what it needs in 30 years' time, which is how long it takes to have the right number of nuclear power plants. The UK, France, and even Sweden now are doing the same thing. Iran says it needs to be able to produce its own fuel, rather than have to rely on the good will and honesty (?) of other countries not to cut off their supply of fuel whenever they feel like it or want to force Iran into doing something which is against its strategic or national interest. Iran is also, and has been for 30 years, a signatory to the NPT, which means it voluntarily has signed up to inspections. Neither Israel, not a number of countries who do possess not only nuclear power but also nuclear weapons have done this, so they are never going to be inspected to see how safe they are. And how many wars have these nuclear power countries got into in just the last 30 years? Lots, whereas Iran has not attacked anybody for hundreds of years. So who is the real risk here? And who should have the right to tell others that they are a danger? If everyone treated countries like Iran with a bit of respect, like the Russians who - being one of the strongest nations in the world - are actually capable of diplomacy, the world as a whole would be a much safer place. And as for wanting to stop other countries from advancing in technology so they will always be dependent on others for the simplest devices, and be technologically inferior, you should see how many originally Russian inventions are now attributed to western scientists.

Nick 10 February, 2009, 07:29 Probably, once they get them though the USA should build Georgia a "peaceful" nuclear plant. That'd be pretty funny

Sam 10 February, 2009, 09:18 What difference will it be if Iran creates an ICBM or has a long range nuclear missile? Actually since had been able to put a satellite in orbit, they already have the know how to make an ICBM. The issue is are they actually working on a nuclear weapon or not. Should Iran have a nuclear weapon? Why not? Israel already has them and they are for sure not the most unstable nuclear power in the world. If Pakistan has them, then I can not see why others can’t. This is a country that can not even control its own territory and has parallel government running is some areas where the central government has no control. So why should not Iran have them. Another thing about nukes, once you have them, not are you sure that no one will ever attack you, but you are also very careful not to have a war yourself. Take the Indian/Pakistan border. It has not been quieter since both countries developed nukes.
