Kosovo independence: is another Balkan war about to break out?
magomed 27 February, 2008, 13:34 As much as being a lawyer myself, undoubtedly the unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo severely violates International Public Law, inter alia, the UN Resolution 1244. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that, "for any deed there's is recompense". Hence, truly believing in the undisputed principle of justice the people of Kosovo are bound to be compensated for their sufferings during the Milosevic's era of repression and "ethnic cleansing". Even if it has to be achieved by such "unlawfull" means.

Pam 27 February, 2008, 14:35 SrpskiCrnogorac, I did make my statement and I believe it is a strong one. I wish you would support your statements by some kind of evidential facts. There have always been problems between the many ethnicities that now reside in the Balkans. However, to say that for one man's death committed by a criminal, a person who has no concept of reality and morality, should be avenged by killing millions is ludicrous. It is just sad that we still to this day have people who think that Milosevic was correct in his orders of genocide. You Serbs really need to wake up and smell the reality, the world has moved on and so should you. And SrpskiCrnogorac, if you think you are scaring anyone by your promise of something happening by the end of this year, you are seriously kidding yourself. Serbia is in no shape to start any kind of wars, that boat has sailed off into the horizon a long time ago. Furthermore, Russia will support you until they are pressured by the West to accept the newly independent state of Kosovo, and then they will have no choice but to succumb. And I know many Serbs are hoping that Russia will go to war with the West following the independence of Kosovo, but in this matter I believe that you are again kidding yourselves. Russia has absolutely nothing to gain by going to war with the rest of the world for a country that has no ports, no natural minerals, and no hope for a future in the EU. Again I say GET OVER IT!!! YOU LOST and it's absolutely your fault!!!

Sanjay 27 February, 2008, 17:32 The modus operandi of anglo-american financiers is clear: 1. First, provoke a country by arming financing guiding terrorist/subversive elements inside, like chechnya in russia, punjab and kashmir in India, kosovo in Europe. 2. When that country tries to defend its sovereignty, immediately start war propaganda of how ethnic cleansing of minority is going on and how angel financiers need to intervene in order to stop death, genocide and Human right violations. 3. Invade that country, break it up and loot its natural resources, install military bases and puppet government, acquire control over media, finance and legislation. The only reason they failed in Russia and India was because they had nuclear weapons and enough heft. Its difficult to say if 10-15 years from now when Russia's decay is accelerated and its aging population collapses what will happen. Another Balkan war might happen, but that will be in Russia's territory. That is what the commodity-oligarchs and anglo-american financiers want and that is the reason why they are encircling Russia. Anti-Russian people like Kudrin Medved in the government will surely hasten the end of what is left of Russia. Russia-Europe-India must join hands to prevent this balkanization in eurasia.

Mavron 27 February, 2008, 17:54 it is already 83 countries out of 192 registered in UN that have recognised the Republic of Kosova until now. When the Security Council of UN is unable to solve any dispute, the case goes for vote in the General Asembly and it needs 2/3 of the votes to win the case, that is to be recognised by UN. So from 128 votes needed we have 83. 45 to go (not counting the abstains). This is if all the countries take part in the vote, if some don't the number needed is less. Thank God we going there. Teodor, I really liked your last writing.

Drago 28 February, 2008, 02:07 definately the serbs will not fight over Kosovo again. We have been cripled by the united states and germans over the past 18 years. If they did decide to to fight using military force, the americans would bomb the country again and nobody would intervene because the yanks are unfortunately still the world super power. The goal of america is to break up as many countries as possible into little weak ones so they can stay strong. They did that in yugoslavia and will keep on doing it until china or russia are able to give them more fear. Probably another 6-8 years away. They create ethnic conflics and are effective ETHNIC CLENSORS. I would hope some of these european countries such as czech, slovakia, spain, france become more friendly with the russians and stop siding with the greedy americans. It is only a matter of time before they head off to another country to destroy infrastructure and come in acting as the "savior" or "democracy advocates" when they are complete fashists. Be smart and lets not destroy the world with more polution, lets side with the russians and chinese. There greed and theft of resources shall come to an end soon!

Mavron 28 February, 2008, 09:50 First of all I think that UN is an organization that cannot help countries when there is civil wars or massacres and genocide against the weaker nations. There is to many cases to prove that around the world : Africa (2.500.000 dead in the last 20 years), Yugoslavia (around 200.000 dead in the last 18 years), Turkey (60.000 dead in the last 25 years), Iraq (300.000 in the last 5 years), Afghanistan, Russia, South Americas etc., and ideology has nothing to do with this because there is cases from democratic, pseudo-democratic and non democratic countries alike. Millions of people have died and UN with its famous Security Council has done nothing to prevent it. Yes, they have made it clear though, that you can do all the genocide you want, but if we (UN) catch you … The Hague is your place… that’s bull**** My dear e-friends in this forum, I and anybody from small nations, will not obey the “shot first and ask questions latter” policies from any big countries (Yugoslavia in this case), who in general, their main Power Game is : we want that X land, but without the X people who live on it. Those X people, no matter what the Chapters of UN or it’s resolutions say, will try to apply, as much as they can, the inherited God’s given right to self-defense, which by the way is called fight for freedom and not terrorism as Serbians called KLA. This is generally speaking, because all the likely situations around the world have their own specifics. To come back to main title of discussion here, the Balkan war, I think there want be any war because the Serbs know that they cannot win. But to gain as much as possible public opinion they are trying to make this case sound as there are broken international laws. Let me bring to you only a small part of international laws and international treaties that Yugoslavia, as signatory, has broken quite openly and with no regrets as we all have seen in the last 20 years and point nr.6 shows very well written that Kosovar Albanian have not broken any International law with the SDI. 1- Helsinki Final Act, chapter VIII. Equal rights and self-determination of peoples, Slobodan stripped Kosova of its status as a equal Yugoslavian unit. 2- Resolution 1160 (1998 )Adopted by the Security Council at its 3868th meeting, on 31 March 1998, 16/b - Yugoslavia to withdrawn the special police units and ceased action by the security forces affecting the civilian population; - Yugoslavia or Slobodan, it did not. (approved by Russia also) 3- Resolution 1199 (1998) Adopted by the Security Council at its 3930th meeting on 23 September 1998, 2 - Demands also that the authorities of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Kosovo Albanian leadership take immediate steps to improve the humanitarian situation and to avert the impending humanitarian catastrophe; (approved by Russia also) - Yugoslavia or Slobodan backed up by the majority of Serbian people, did not 4- Resolution 1239 (1999) Adopted by the Security Council at its 4003rd meeting, on 14 May 1999; Deeply concerned by the enormous influx of Kosovo refugees into Albania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other countries, as well as by the increasing numbers of displaced persons within Kosovo, the Republic of Montenegro and other parts of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia; (approved by Russia also) 5- Resolution 1244 (1999) Adopted by the Security Council at its 4011th meeting, on 10 June 1999; - Regretting that there has not been full compliance with the requirements of these resolutions; - Facilitating a political process designed to determine Kosovo's future status, taking into account the Rambouillet accords; (approved by Russia also) 6- Rambouillet accords, Chapter 8, 3. Three years after the entry into force of this Agreement, an international meeting shall be convened to determine a mechanism for a final settlement for Kosovo, on the basis of the will of the people, opinions of relevant authorities, each Party's efforts regarding the implementation of this Agreement, and the Helsinki Final Act, and to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the implementation of this Agreement and to consider proposals by any Party for additional measures. Now, I had to bring rather long verifiable info. on this issue because are very important to understand that even Russia, which today refuses to recognize Kosova, has approved to all Security Council Resolutions on this subject. So the decision of Kosovars to SDI is only based in the non cooperative Serbian way of negotiations to find a political settlements for equal right within Serbia of Albanians Best regards.

Tony 29 February, 2008, 05:46 http://www.dolz.com/kosovoandseparatists.htm Separatist Movements Eyes are on Kosovo – Independence May Fuel Wars Worldwide Written by Tony Dolz Every nation has the right to defend its borders and the obligation to protect the people that it serves. …. …. Muslim Albanian insurgents funded by Bin Laden, the same Bin Laden that funded the 911 act of terrorism against America, defied the sovereignty and authority of Serbia over its Kosovo Province. When the Serbian government used its political and military power to defend its territory, it was attacked viciously by the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in violation of its own charter. Years later, America was attacked by Muslim terrorists funded by Bin Laden and it used this incident to wage war against Afghanistan and Iraq. Ironic? . Seremb 29 February, 2008, 08:23 Read something from others too! Björk: Kosovo, Kosovo, Hooray for Independence Feb 21, 2008 Icelandic music star Björk, has greeted the independence of Kosovo, during her tour in Japan. The singer, appearing in the Tokyo "Nippon Budokan" hall in front of 14.000 people, opened the concert with her "Declare Independence" (Volta, 2007) song, originally dedicated to Faroe Islands -- a group of North Atlantic islands comprising an independent province of the Kingdom of Denmark, but also traditionally and directly linked with Iceland, the homeland of the singer. "Uh, I really love this song!" - announced Björk under the stage lights and immediately started shouting "Kosovo, Kosovo, Kosovo", whereas the public followed in thunderous cheers waving red flags creating the impression of the Albanian flag. Next, according to the Serbian Blic reporter, Björk addressed the public with the following words: "Kosovo must be independent, Serbs don't merit anymore to rule over Kosovo". Fragment from the song's lyrics: Declare independence! Don't let them do that to you! Damn colonists Ignore their patronizing Tear off their blindfolds Open their eyes Declare independence! Don't let them do that to you! Declare independence! Don't let them do that to you! With a flag and a trumpet Go to the top of your highest mountain! And raise your flag! (Higher, higher!) Raise your flag! (Higher, higher!) Declare independence! Don't let them do that to you! Declare independence! Don't let them do that to you! Raise the flag! Regards, Seremb

Mavron 29 February, 2008, 11:29 To Tony I read your article that you suggested here…. Thanks really, had long time since I thought these people are the one’s that Serbs are going after to gain public opinion. Ha ha ha It is funny in many ways. First of all, who is this guy? The pseudo-journalist (he is not a journalist at all) Tony Dolz, is a member of a small, secret, ultraconservative organization formed into armed groups for the declared purpose of conducting guerrilla warfare against a communist invasion of the U.S…., as such there is plenty of things to be said about his analytical, simplistically deductive way of childish war game thinking. But because its not in my nature to go after the messengers, I will focus on his awkward message and the great errors that this Cuban-born Hispanic legal immigrant who “attained naturalized citizenship through the legal process”, but by entering illegally to the USA from Cuba, and the foremost who is against any immigrants on USA. I mean please …. !!!! Lets bring first some of his “lack of knowledge” comparisons : - “What if a foreign power had intervened militarily to force President Lincoln to surrender the southern states during the Civil War?” Hey, Tony Montana, the deference between South and North USA during the Civil War it was only philosophical, in the way of abolishing slavery in a country which had adopted Montesquieu’s and Locke’s works in their constitution. (that’s what at least Bismarck, who followed that war closely said). To have a more likely close to the point comparison in the region in discussion here, I suggest, that you could bring as the example the civil war between Chetniks and TITO’s partisans, and not this one which both sides in the conflict have major differences linguistically, ethnically, culturally, philosophically, historically, traditionally, etc. This tells me a lot of your knowledge ???????? - “The green flag to Kosovo and other separatists movements leave us who vacation with our families in many of these locations with territorial claims, which also happen to be vacation paradises, with something to worry about.” Hey, La cucaracha, Kosova is not a “vacation paradise” for US/EU families, but if you worry only about that, I advice you to take some courses in Travel & Tourism, because your MBA degree, very clearly, is not helping you in choosing the proper place for your family vacations. -“ Who hasn’t been on vacation in Spain and not worried ever so slightly about becoming an accidental victim of Basque separatist terror?” Hey, Il comandante, for your info., from Bask terror have been killed 800 people in the last 30 years, that is 26 people per year. To start to worry about that is the same as to worry that a mosquito which has pinched a Dinosaur 50 million years ago, might pinch you too and you might get to be a Dinosaurised Man. I say this because in Spain there is more then 8.000.000 tourist per year and more then 200 of them have been killed from automobile accidents, some hundreds drawn in the see, some thousands catch sexually infected diseases, and thousands get robbed by Africans and Eastern Europeans alike. So please no more grotesque comparisons. - Many separatists’ movements around the world, Cyprus, for example, may be ironically waiting their turn for support from the NATO air force to press their separatist demands. What are you talking about? Can you please be more specific? In Cyprus there are two ethnic groups, which one do you mean ? The Turkish or the Greeks ? My questions are rhetorical. I don’t need an answer really. This shows again your deep knowledge…. - Only a derelict and corrupt government would allow its nation to be invaded by over 20 million illegal aliens from a bordering country that has taught its school children for 160 years that it has legitimate territorial claims against it. Mexico has claimed for 160 years that the Southwestern states of the United States belong to Mexico and that one day it will retake it. As an Hispanic, you have to read a bit more thoroughly Emiliano Zapatas biography, to get informed a bit better on relations between native people (wrongfully called Indians), Hispanics, English and French that have occupied that continent since the Columbus time. Don’t show your ignorance this openly. - “Muslim Albanian insurgents funded by Bin Laden, the same Bin Laden that funded the 911 act of terrorism against America, defied the sovereignty and authority of Serbia over its Kosovo Province.” Only you can make sense out of this, I can’t. USA helping out friends of Bin Laden ????? Nice try mate. A bit harder next time. Best regards Mavron Joti, Tirana, Albania.

And why do not Russia china and these other country's tired of us in the west do a pakt to ally against US and NATO interference that also infect their interests?? Russia with China and maybe India would make a great superpower to let USA know they can't get away with anything they want. RachEl 29 February, 2008, 16:19 To Seremb: the Islandic singer Bjork following her concert performance (having sung of her greatly-inspired cry for Kosovo "independence", can now pick up her pay check at the nearest US Embassy, right? Signed: "Disgusted" at the global propaganda of a defunct monster on the run - look at Bush telling Turkey to back off of Northern Iraq.and Turkey runs like an obedient bird.and US ship to Lebanon.at who's bidding?.And Russia bowing to US demand for sanctions against Iran.and gold-mine in Dominican Republic swallowed up while natives can't find a crumb of rice.and gas prices pumping iron ($103 a barrel.soon $130 a barrel?) while Iraq oil is pumped to maximum strength for US.and Iraqi blood pumped to maximum strength for the beast that has an insatiable thirst for human blood and suffering. is there an end of US lies and deceit?! All the answers are written on the wall: Read Daniel 5:25-28, the shadow of things to come (upon the nation that says, "I shall be a lady forever ("America forever").therefore hear now this, you that are given to pleasures, that dwell carelessly, that say in your heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children.)Isaiah 47:8 Prescription for USA: Isaiah 47:9-15 (behind the "Kosovo Independence" and the American banner of propaganda)
