Putin is Time magazine's Person of the Year, 2007. Do you agree?
Al2 19 December, 2007, 14:15 Yes. He has done many things in his time in the Kremlin. He will go down in history.

Wonderer 19 December, 2007, 14:41 I'm not sure he needs such a title since the vast majority of Russian media is harnessed to glorify him all the time, and to suspicious extent. Of course he has worked for good things too (e.g. Sochi 2014) but one could hope for a little more courage, that is not being afraid of media criticism or political opposition or foreign "conspiracies".

Al 19 December, 2007, 14:51 He's certainly done a good job but one cannot help but wonder what he thinks of being grouped with the likes of the fake envirocrusader Al Gore or Mrs Harry Potter for a person of the year award.

DD 19 December, 2007, 16:35 Yes, he is a true leader for his country and his people!! He is a respected man by many leaders and citizens all over the world. He has shown that no foreign pressure can influence him in taking important international and national decisions. He surely deserves to be person of the year 2007!!

Sanjay 19 December, 2007, 16:59 From what he has done, he can truly be called Vladimir the Savior. However, the way russian media is fawning after some damned english magazine wrote something makes me wonder when russians will overcome their inferiority complex and start acting their size and muscle. What really matters is whether Putin's policies bring peace prosperity power and greatness to Russian people and Russian Statehood.

David 19 December, 2007, 17:46 Congratulations. He has shown himself to be truthful and forthright something that Western politicians don't seem to have and as such has succeeded in giving Russia the kiss of life. There is only one other person like Putin, a politician, but sadly he has passed on.

The honourable 19 December, 2007, 19:12 Time and again, throughout the history of the world, at various intervals, comes a man destined to change its course - for better or worse (depending on the outsider's or insider's view) And Putin is definitely up among them! Though it took time for TIME to recognize it, better late than never.

Sam 19 December, 2007, 19:49 What more can a country ask for A great leader that can rebuild his country to its old glory in such a short time. Wish there were more leaders in this world like him that puts his country first rather then the interests of a few powerful people. Nice to see an award from a none russian body.It seems he even impressed the foreign well read community too. Sad to see who are the runner ups are. Are there no world leaders who had made a countibution to their society that they had to put forward al gore and rowlings?

Bob 19 December, 2007, 21:56 I agree and iam not surprised that vladamir Putin is time's Man of the Year 2007!VP understands not only the challenges affecting his country but the global village and he has sober solutions on how to address these challenges from an objective point of view that is 'literally' lacking in most of today's world leaders strong or weak!!!

Sevodnya_Net 19 December, 2007, 23:15 It's even better than most of us think! Vlad the Bountiful has actually won this prestigious accolade 2 years running, assuming that at some stage in his life he has used the Internet, as last year the "Person of the Year" was the Internet Generation. Which means that all of us were winners last year! Isn't that nice! Congratulations to all of my fellow contributors! And belated congrats also to Adolf Hitler and Josef Stalin for their victories back in the 30s and 40s!

grumio 19 December, 2007, 23:19 The man from Time Magazine, claims he was angry about certain things, the west is angry about being angry, it is my view that Mr Putin was passonate about how he feels about something, I could be wrong but cant see Mr Putin being angry, it gets you know where, Maybe funny man from Time magazine should ask how he felt about something, and not assume. Thank You
