What does the US decision to review its missile defense plans in Europe mean?
matsobane 17 September, 2009, 13:11 its basically a wise decision on the part of the americans since the plan was not accepted by the russians for being a threat to their security. I think both the americans and the russians should work together if 2global stability is to be maintained.

johnx 17 September, 2009, 21:34 It was a pretty stupid concept to begin with as it would cost the US billions of dollars to keep it operational over the years and it was obviously aimed at Russia which they could use for spying and shot down satellites. How much money was the EU and Poland and the Czech Rep will to pay?

seroquel 17 September, 2009, 23:02 I think the whole missile defense idea is the same as "Star Wars", Reagan's plan redux. It is good that President Obama is scrapping it, as I don't understand how that would keep anybody safe. Why antagonize Russia? It's a good first step, and I hope more of the same.

Deepak 18 September, 2009, 04:39 USA(Bush-Cheeny and Neo-conservative team) was never right to put “Missile Defense System” in eastern Europe (Countries like Poland and Czech Republic) at the borders of Russia!!It could make Eastern Europe more dangerous place and play ground of 2nd cold war (like Afghanistan) The argument of Bush & Co. was silly and ridiculous that MDS was aimed at Iran, even a 4th student who knows geography, from Poland which country is near Russia or Iran ? Russia proposed Bush & Co. to put its MDS in Kazakhstan instead of Poland and Czech if USA really worried about Iran missile threats, which were denied by Bush…….!!

tlumacz 18 September, 2009, 08:50 In Poland where over 80% of population were against deployment of AMD system US decision brought a feeling of general relief and hope of improving relations with Russia. The most prominent proponents of AMD, The Kaczynski Brothers (Lech -The President, Jaroslaw - The Leader of Opposition), found themselves at least in isolation, if not in contempt...

DD 18 September, 2009, 12:43 It means that the US have finally come to their senses. Firstly they haven't got enough money to complete such useless system. Secondly the US is taking into account many of their European allies point of view & interests (the older & more important allies), that having a good and healthy relation with Russia is wisely more important than creating another cold war on the behalf of the current leaders from the Baltics, Poland, Georgia & Ukraine. Having Russia as a friend is both economically and politically more benefitial than the eternal obedience of some minor European nations. Thirdly, the US is being more democratic than the host-countries because most of the people there are against this missile defence plan. So we can easily conclude that the leaders of those Eastern European nations must understand by now that they'd better alter their policies regarding to Russia, as they are standing all by theirself. Greetings from Belgium

DD 18 September, 2009, 14:16 It means that Obama isn't in the mood for another cold war, in contrary to the previous US rulers. This president took the decision taking into consideration the position of Russia and most EU-nations. Besides of that there isn't any money left to waste on this useless project, regarding their struggle in Iraq and Afghanistan, and at home. For Poland, Baltics, Ukraine and Georgia this means they should start with changing their attitude towards Russia, cause the're standing alone with their "case". Greetings from Belgium

Wolf changes his fur but never a mindset 18 September, 2009, 14:33 In my opinion it is just a temporary step back , a sort of a hault . For everyone knows that NATO will continue to expand until reaches all the dorsteps of Russia . This aledged act of trust was born due to the fact US desperately needs Russias support both inn Avganistan and Iran , in addition the economy of U.S. is in trouble which makes it all to expensive for them to throw money arround as they did in past five decades . As soon as the Americans resolve these two questions and possibly North Korea as well , everything is going to get beack to bussiness as usual ...

Toma 18 September, 2009, 17:58 Wolf doesnt change his mindset - true, US wants peace...ever saw War Made Easy film ? If not, dont let it wait and see yourself US prepares for staging a conflict they will need to freeze- yes bring peace in 2000 lb and other forms. There are things most media including RT ignore and actually have little knowledge of, in central Europe, the heating up problem is Hungary, state which brainwashes its people to be Magyars (but in reality genetically they dont ´exist´ cca 5% is hilarious) and learn history, that Magyars were in all the lands that never belonged to them. The so-calledcalled irredentism. They call for Trianon to be abolished and we to be enslaved. Hungary because after the wars, they let them, they change history to fit them. There is a saying that a ´convert´to Turk is worse than a natural Turk, same goes for Hungary. Every school kid that finishes the high school has to make exams from history. This is why it works. Everywhere they are told lies, then will be used like nazis were. Hurrah for greater Hungary. In the end Hungary will burn while american bankers and military industry will prop their economy. Hungarian politicians fly over to US congress to inform of the hotspots in Europe, of course- around them. Hungary also will receive a person from Guantanamo. Hungarian foreign minister calls our regime to be close to Ceausescu. While in Hungary, ethnical minorities ´somehow´ disappear. Assimilation laws make your own language unsusable. Here the so-called Magyars can speak their language, no problem. In Hungary, even when people die, on their gravestones, their names are Magyarised, instead of Ladislav, there will be Lajos, Štefan to István, surnames are made same way. Their mainly cultural genocide is not spoken about. US can use them, make conflict here then proceed with some terror act somewhere in Crimea (Russia will be blamed) US will have to defend democracy. They both hate Slavs. Not to mention under some free union or furure alliance-afraid

johnx 19 September, 2009, 01:32 @Toma Yes I've noticed that to that the Jewish-Russian mafia has a heavy presence in Hungry with the boss Simon Mogilevich according to former Jewish author Robert I. Friedman has bought up the Hungarian arms industry. http://www.network54.com/Forum/84302/thread/1222214540/last-1222214651/The+Judeo-Russian+Mafia-+From+the+Gulag+to+Brooklyn+to+World+Dominion Plus there connections to Islamic terrorism Chechen, KLA and others in the Balkans and foreign intelligence. Soros famously first set up his Open Society foundation in his birthplace Hungry in Europe in 89 and trying to give Roma more power in Hungary. http://educate-yourself.org/cn/georgesorospostmodernvillian31aug04.shtml

rodnacious 19 September, 2009, 18:07 Under President Obama, with the willing help of Secretary of State Clinton, America is attempting to present a more diplomatic front for all to see. American, by a clear majority, did not want the armed conflict in Iraq, nor do we want such a thing as another 'Cold War' with Russia. The 'cowboy tactics' of the Bush administration jeopardized the budding relationship that America was experiencing under Reagan and Clinton. America wants a peaceful end to all armed conflicts and this writer believes in the sincerity of the Obama administration to achieve a long lasting peace with Russia, China, and the Muslim countries. We believe that there are more important issues of the day that confront us all globally, such as Sudan, global pollution, and terrorist.

Ergatis 19 September, 2009, 18:09 It means that USA came to realize the Russian superiority in missile systems. Russia's missiles are simply unstopable and so USA gave up the fight, stopped the threats to Russia and began the "cooperation" rhetoric. Only idiots will believe these devils...

Aimilios G. Moschovitis 24 September, 2009, 08:40 Among the reasons why US have temporarily retracted may also be the following: 1. - It is not the right time when US suffers an economic crises provoked by themselves, when millions are jobless and homeless, when the eighty military US bases around the world cost too much and when the country’s debt is rising. The US citizens may react violently this time, like they did once in L.A. for a great number of similar reasons...2. - They retract to manage the reactions better by propaganda, by buying or disciplining people, by manipulating etc.3. They want to calm down with lies the fears about the radar radiation, about the fact that the installation of such equipment makes the area a target. It is primarily an area problem. That means that it should be decided by the area people and not the whole country. Once US military set foot in your country they will define exercises and real war standard procedures, but they will prefer the real war procedures pretending that NATO computers were malfunctioning. As they are maniacs of manipulation they will corrupt the military and the political personnel of these two countries.

Korz 26 September, 2009, 10:41 A Chameleon changes its color pattern so as to apear that it is not there. Status quo unchanged, only appearing to have changed. The Movie Operation Barbarossa Two still in production . America hates Stalin but accepts his gift of soviet part of Russia South Ossetia to Soviet Georgia ; though South Ossetia was not part of Soviet Georgia or Russian Georgia . Republic of Georgia ( Georgia ) as well as South Ossetia were part of Russia for hundreds of years before the soviet revolution.. Soviet Georgia was a gift from the communists to Georgians as well. But changing the European map is a no no , but it's okay for Russia. [ changing the European map is a no no] I think that is good evidence that Operation Barbarossa Two is in production; being that the map is changing by the powers that Be that for bed that change. (and no objecting to it by them.)

jwpeur 7 October, 2009, 10:01 The folowing sentence from the "Warsaw Voice" of 6th October 2009 shows just how sincere the US is concerning its statement of not placing missiles in Poland "Following last week's Polish-American talks in Washington Warsaw has received an unofficial declaration from US that Poland could be part of the new anti-missile shield system for Europe by hosting mobile SM-3 rocket launchers". These mobile SM-3 rocket launchers will be placed not only in Poland but also in Georgia.
