Putin calls for end to Kiev’s military op, postponing referendum in E. Ukraine

07.05.2014 13:19

Ukrainian right-wing groups are behind the recent events in the country, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, adding that Kiev has not disarmed them. He also called on anti-Kiev protesters to postpone a May 11 federalization referendum.

piece is the only way out-balance-with good deeds let Ukraine simmer- work towards trade. balance the west and east. Ukraine wants it's independence and identity yet needs help. Russia needs to be a helper yet policy could work towards opening up a port. it's similar to Quebec- it very part of Canada but totally on it's own. Taiwan is the same with china-take the Taiwanese identity away and you have civil war. Yet china heavily invested in Taiwan as in terms of industry that benefits the Taiwanese workers and some revenue for china.

Please someone help me as I feel that I live in another planet. Have tried hard to be impartial and see all view points on this Ukraine situation. but I am being bullied and confused with such a huge anti-Russian orgy by not only so-called western leaders but the media as well. despite the FACTS, obvious PROOF, LOGIC, and simple FAIR PLAY, somehow Mr Putin is spoken of and treated like a mad monster, EVERYTHING is his fault and Russia. no matter what Russia does or proposes to solve the crisis is dismissed any comments??

[quote name='Basil Eneh' time='09.05.2014 04:48']President Putin's stance is clearly intended to de-escalate the situation in Ukraine. The response from Kiev shows that we are dealing with political thugs and opportunists.

The Ukrainian army must decide whether the protection of Ukraine is same as protecting such thugs. Nothing short of a military coup will prevent the permanent split of Ukraine into different countries.

The Kiev junta is supported by bigger thugs and bullies - Obama & Cronies, hence any proposal from Russia is not acceptable. Ukrainian army? Probably taken over by the fascists and nazis.

Russia shows leadership and strength, its language and behaviour are measured and rational. Its discourse on the Ukraine crisis is straightforward, clear and perceptive and expressed by its representatives, in a statesman-like manner. In contrast to this, the commentary from the US and its allies often seems hysterical, accusatory, bullying, devious - and, from time to time, shown to have been fallacious. It is time for the US-EU-UK to drop their cold-war mentality and look at the world with fresh eyes.

US-EU-UK must justify NATO's existence.

Didn't you recognise that my 'any signs of that recently?' was rhetorical? Surely you have seen them already and Pro Russians in East Ukraine are making it clear in interviews that they are not happy.

Yo u must be a Muslim to believe what you just posted. It sure is not based in Reality.

An d what if I am a Muslim or a Christian? Should I rejoice the fact that Obama is supporting the extremist Muslims in Syria who are killing the other Muslims? Is it not a fact that the US led the war against Iraq on baseless assumptions and left Iraq in the sorry state it is today? To any rationale person, Muslim, Christian or Atheist it's clear who is causing all the misery in Ukraine today! What's the reality my friend?

Bu t there are no kings and queens, knights or bishops in this game. Plenty of snakes and dice throwing though. So the game must be snakes and ladders and Mr Putin cannot win in the long term unless he changes his game plan - any signs of that recently?

It seems the only people intent on escalating the situation are the unelected Kiev leadership and their backers...

The army must work with Russia to stabilize the situation. The West simply doesn't understand and has bungled another opportunity to de-escalate. Obsessed with threats of sanctions, they forget that action and reaction are equal and opposite.

"The real owners are the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians, they're an irrelevancy. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything.. They've got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want; they want more for themselves and less for everybody else."

I can imagine a Disney park around Kiev in few years time. All the Micky's junta together having a barbecue like they did in Odessa.
