In the Russian Premier League, it looks as though Khimki coach Konstantin Sarsania may finally have something to celebrate. His side earned their first win of the season with almost half of the competition left behind.
Khimki was last in the table with just four points from 12 games before Friday, but game 13 proved lucky for them.
They narrowly beat lowly Saturn 1-0, thanks to a strike by Yury Kirillov. It was hardly an entertaining performance, but the result is more important for the Moscow region side, as they are now four points clear of relegation.
The weekend will feature a full slate of action in Russia’s top football league. Saturday will see CSKA travel to Grozny, Amkar take on Dynamo Moscow, Rubin playing Krylya Sovetov in Samara and Spartak Moscow challenging Rostov on the road. On Sunday, Zenit will challenge former league leaders FC Moscow, while Lokomotiv and Kuban receive Tom and Spartak Nalchik, respectfully.
