'ACTA a web police project' - MEP who wants to kill bill

April 19, 2012 13:43

ACTA is aiming high, but its loose wording would make internet service providers an unintended police force of the web, David Martin, the MEP rapporteur on the controversial agreement told RT in an exclusive interview.

Isn't it great how "democratically" Western concept of democracy works? 37 countries are signatories but it is sufficient only for 6 of them to ratify and ACTA becomes compulsory upon all the rest too, even if they don't want it. So, the word and will of some 15% becomes the law for the remaining 85%.

The Nazi Police State was to ensure thateverybody did as they were told - or paid the price. The Nazi Police were controlled by Heinrich {J. Edgar Hoover} Himmler and his feared Secret Police - the Gestapo - did as it pleased in Nazi Germany. The Nazis developed a Policy of Intimidation. Fear became a by-word for those who did not support Hitler. The wrong comment overheard by a Nazi official could have very serious consequences.Hitler s police state worked on the rule that if you said nothing, no harm, could come to you. If you had doubts about the way the country was going, you kept them to yourself - or paid the price. In Nazi Germany the police were allowed to arrest people on suspicion that they were about to do wrong. This gave the police huge powers. All local police units had to draw up a list of people in their locality who might be suspected of being "Enemies of the State". This list was given to the Gestapo - the Secret Police. The Gestapo had the power to do as it liked. Its leader - Reinhard Heydrich - was one of the most feared man in Nazi Germany. His immediate Chief was Heinrich {J. Edgar Hoover} Himmler. Both men ran their respective Branches with ruthless efficiency.

if someone absolutely wants to get paid for their music then they should put their heads to inventing a type of security that would be in a song itself. a kind of a program that gets planted into a song at the studio, so if ever it ends up on a pirate site it would just block any attempts to download it for free.   I personaly think that artists should be paid for the show they make at a club, arena, park .... whatever. if they could just think for a minute how much exposure they get through  so called illegal sharing.... then they could go on trips around the world making their fortunes

I believe that art should be free for everyone.  A little off-topic, but the US is censoring opinions. Why don't they educate us first or reeducate us if they don't like what we have to say?  What ends up happening is that you just have a bunch of security services trying to justify their existences.  I just got blocked from Yahoo News for saying that I don't like capitalism.  Of course, I'm just annoying people because I enjoy getting comments. And who knows, maybe a rich person will drop 50,000 into my lap for stem cells...  I didn't get blocked for begging, however.  I was blocked for my ideology.  I didn't even cuss.  Man, Russia is more free than we are.  Putin, will you help me?  Can I come up there?

Download Hollywood Movies and Songs for free --> Less taxes payed to us-government --> Less weapons produced --> More freedom

I will never buy anything that is made in usa, untill all us-military is within the borders of usa. Go fck yourself hollywood.

Yo u want ACTA? OK, not a problem for me. We have our own private network, where we exchange whatever we want for free, me and my friends.

And even better with ACTA. I will start to sell DVDs and CDs on the street, when you can not download it.

For the sake of record companies, we going to cut our liberties? Maddonas', Beyonce's, whomever's music is not worth it. I really don't care about protecting Hollywood, or the music industry so much that I want to set up an arbitrary court to police the internet. My privacy and my right to exress myself are far more important.

If you can't control your own content on the internet THEN DON"T PUT IT ON THE INTERNET.  Protecting your property is YOUR PROBLEM NOT MINE

I would like to know why the u.s. signed this bill. If you are wanting to protect your intellectu al property&nbs p;make software that stops decryption and that has a use for your website or create something that doesn't use your average binary code, like whats on CDS and DVDs. Is it really consider ed stealing when a new song or something in binary code is put on the internet for people to actually download? I think people cry about making money, just like Hollywood. Just my thought.
