A group claiming to represent Al-Qaeda has declared holy war on India because of its control over part of the disputed Kashmir region. A statement and a video were sent to a Kashmiri news agency, in Srinagar in Jammu Kashmir state.

It has previously been alleged Islamic militants fighting for the Muslim-majority in Kashmir were linked to al-Qaeda, but so far this hasn't been proved.
