Armed attack on Ingush commander’s house: one killed, three injured

One person has been killed and three others injured following an armed attack on the Ingushetia special police forces chief’s family near the city of Nazran.

Attackers used grenade launchers to open fire on commander Timur Ekazhev’s house. Ekazhev was slightly injured, however, his sister died on the way to the hospital.

Ekazhev’s wife and daughter, who were in the house at the time of the attack, were also reported to have been injured. According to doctors, their injuries were described as “moderate- to- severe.”

Following the attack, authorities are considering opening a criminal case to investigate  violations of the Criminal Code, including an attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, murder, illegal storage and carrying of weapons and ammunition.

The attackers, who escaped from the scene, are being sought
