Re: double standards in the West. Blind human rights activist Chen Guangcheng made a daring escape to seek refuge at the U.S. embassy in Beijing. Suddenly U.S.- China relations are strained. In order to avoid embarassing China during the U.S. Foreign Minister's visit, this couragous champion for the rights of women, whose voice is heard opposing enforced abortions and sterilizations, is told in no uncertain terms to leave the embassy for the timing is wrong and the U.S. could not possibly step on the totalitarian Chines government's sensitive toes.Talk about double standards. Let's speak up and tell both governments what we think of the torturous persecution of human rights activists in any country and of the hypocritical stance of so-called democratic nations who place business dealings over human lives. 
Chen Guangcheng needs to be allowed to continue his selfless service in a safe, protected environment, monitored by Amnesty International. His family needs to be safeguarded from any future persecution!
I propose a global referendum whereby every human being gets a vote and a say in whether unethical business dealings with countries that continue to perpetrate human rights abuses on either Tibetan monks, Yghurs, human rights activists, the mentally disabled, and so on, should be named, shamed, held to account or be prosecuted in the International Courts of The Hague.
The time has come to put human beings first and the mighty dollar last!
