With all my heart, I have the deepest hopes that the future foreign policy of Poland will bring Poles and Russians into mutual respect. We Poles are so culturally close to Russians and seeing our two countries at odds with each other completely breaks my heart. I understand the history between Poland and Russia has raised eyebrows from both sides but I think this entire situation truely has potential for the two countries to come to terms with their past. This hope is what is currently making me very proud to be Polish. The solidarity the Poles are showing over this entire situation, as well as the willingness to embrace the Russians, is inspiring and has even brought tears to my eyes, despite living so far away from Europe. My support for Bronisław Komorowski is based on the hopes that his foreign policy will seek to repair Poland's relations with Russia and Germany. It is extremely important for Poles, Germans and Russians to learn to trust each other again and work together. I hope Poland's pro-American policy will become limited to friendly relations, and that the Polish government will stop portraying Poles as sycophants for the Americans. I have nothing against the U.S. but their government shows very little recognition to Poland and the millions of Poles living within the U.S.

Tomek, "...and for that reason they celebrated the 1940 massacre in the Katyn forest separately." You did not mean to say this, did you? BR Aleks

That is not true. Komorowski is very close to Donald Tusk (Poland's Prime Minister) and they both are trying to build good relations between Poland and Russia. The problem was that Kaczynski had a "different view" and that was the main reason of a conflict between President and PM and for that reason they celebrated the 1940 massacre in the Katyn forest separately.

I am really impressed by the Russian response after our Polish tragedy. The public opinion in Poland sees Putin as anti-Polish ex-KGB agent and a Soviet but his actions proved us wrong yesterday. He is very supportive and involved personally in the whole situation. He understands how tragic and difficult time it is for us and his promise of cooperation between Poland and Russia is very building. I think that our future president Komorowiski will take this into account and consideration while forming his policy towards Russia. It is about time when we put our differences and history behind us and start to build strong and healthy relations.
