Blast in Russia's south republic kills one

Security has been stepped up in Russia's southern republic of Dagestan, where an explosion killed a pedestrian on Friday morning. The homemade device was placed near a park lane some 150 metres from the city administration building in the republic's capit
Police say the charge was equivalent to three and a half kilos of TNT.
The man killed has been identified as Zaur Abdullaev, a 48-year-old businessman.
Another explosion was prevented in the republic on Thursday when a bomb squad defused a device containing five kilos of TNT found near a road.
Local police say that a terrorist group may be attempting to destabilise the situation in the region.
