Maybe Russia can enter the contest; although it must improve its spare parts availability and promptness. Neither the soviets nor the Russians are known to have had or have good world-wide stores and availability of parts for its exports and that is why countries have to think twice about buying Russian stuff.

R ussians used to be and currently are the #1 exporter of jet aircraft the foreign military. The most successful deal is with the Indian Air Force. This deal involves not only sale of jets but also license production and joint development of weapon systems.

The most technically reliable and politically balanced choice would be the Russian Su35. It is a superior design, full set of weapon systems and has an affordable price point. The Russians won't mind technology transfer and license production of systems and components. Brazil needs politically and strategically independent Air Force. The Swedish Saab is good choice too, but it is a small single engine aircraft with limited application. The rest of the aircraft have multiple strings attached to them. Certainly the Boeing offer is the one that one day might cripple the operational ability of the Brazilian Air Force.

I hope the air force choose the Gripen NG, at least the swedish will give us the full technology, so we will be able to build more aircrafts here in Brazil, and even export them, instead of importing more american junk.

The Gripen NG is based on a very old platform, dating from the 70s. It's far from being the best in it class, and
is overpriced.
