Sounds like clasic Munchousen syndrome. His father dumped his mother who took it out on her son as an infant by sexually abuse by cutting his frenulum or forcing circumcision on him. If Breivik didn't know the acts were wrong at the time, legally or morally, then in law he's mad.  The public and relatives proba bly see a trial as cathartic, to help to co me to terms with what happened. But they may be disappointed as it provides Breivi k with a platform and a captive audience to espouse his cause. Perhaps they should have stuck to the story of his being mad. Not that it will make much difference as he's going down for life anyway.
