UK’s new online porn filters also blocking sex ed and health websites - report

20.12.2013 02:07

Pornography filters the British government required major internet service providers to install seem to be working a little too well, blocking websites that supply sex ed, sexual health information and treatment for porn addiction, the BBC reported.

or just get Linux to bring out an OS designed with children in mind maybe? not apple or Microsoft bcos no-one should be able to make a profit out of children's safety. Make it an open source OS and I'm sure responsible parents will buy phones/tabs/laptops with it installed.

I once heard of a property developer who proposed the "erection" of a house, The planning application along with lots of others, never got past the Internet filter, all the documents had to be posted on paper copies until some systems analyst spotted the problem. A lady of prude upbringing had included this along with "impregnate&quo t;, plus others.

Responsible parents of chidren serfing the net should have stealth surveillance software installed on all kids computers like "net nanny" to monitor their visited URL's and online bullying and trollgits

David Cameron is a moron. Sure Obama is bad but these british people don't seem to care about their rights AT ALL. They'd rather just sit around letting the government control them while welcoming with open arm all these arabs demanding shariah law and ruining he once great nation. RIP Great Britain, your legacy lives on in America, NZ, Australia, Canada, and South Africa.

If parents can't control what their children are looking at online, then they're a pathetic excuse as a parent. Lazy and ignorant and obviously need the government to step in for their short comings. You wouldn't let your child walk in a city alone, so the same goes for the web. People who actually need this should be ashamed of themselves. If you don't know how to use a computer, then that's no excuse. Get off your backside and teach yourself something. I just worry because this is the start of something else. Starts off for a good cause, then it'll move onto censorship of free speech.

(Some words spelled backwards to get past RT's comment filtering.)

While it is clear that the British nrop filters aren't tight yet, the idea of "opt in" nrop filtering is excellent.

When I consider my own children who are 10 and 8, I really would be happy enough if they did not have access to xes ed, lauxes health information and treatment for nrop addiction websites. It would seem, therefore that at least two levels of nrop filtering is called for -- safe and ultra-safe.
