Estonia’s president won’t let his MPs lose a penny even if they want to. Toomas Hendrik Ilves is proposing that the State Court annuls a law freezing the salaries of deputies in the country’s parliament – on the grounds it’s unconstitutional.

German’s Die Deutsche Zeitung writes that the Estonian government has announced the total sum of its financial losses as a result of the removal of a Soviet war memorial from central Tallinn last April at $US 700 MLN.
Worth every penny to remove this statute from the middle of a busy intersection to a dignified site in the Tallinn military cemetery.
