Russia's Supreme Court is to consider reducing the sentence for the so-called Chessboard Killer, Aleksandr Pichushkin.

The Bitsevsky Park murderer was sentenced to life in prison last October for murdering 48 people and attempting to murder 3 others.

The convicted murderer has now asked for his sentence to be commuted to 25 years.

Pichushkin is also subjected to compulsory psychiatric treatment.
