China no-go: Why force Syria vote amid UN disputes?

February 06, 2012 13:58

China says it was forced to veto a United Nations vote on Syria because it was called before differences over the text had been bridged. Both state-run media and country’s foreign ministry spokesman defended the decision.

China had seven thousand years to do that when the rest of the world was trying to figure out which side was north and which side south. Of course that does not guarantee they would never try, but it does mean that you cannot use their past as a sign of future plausibilities.
/ /please tell me how many Chinese missiles are pointed at Taiwan, a sovereign&nbs p;country.//
Taiw an is "a sovereign country", but Syria is not. Gotchya.
-------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- ---------------You missed some of my points I think. What I was trying to point out is that China isisnt vetoing& nbsp;the Syria motion out of "the goodness of its heart" like some people think, they are protecting their strategic interests. I was using Taiwan&nb sp;as an example that, yes, China has imperial ambiti ons. They arent above the USA they are playing the same game.China has also stated that 20% of the Artic should belong to them, because they posses&nbs p;20% of the planets population. Seeing as that would infringe the sovereignty  of 6 other countries in a quest for resources, thats very imperial of them. The only thing stopping them is USA rivalry for the same territories. (1000s of years ago they didnt have a energy hungry 1.2 billion population, and knew nothing of the Artic. But they have stated that currently annexed territories and Taiwan  ;"have historically belonged to the Chinese and will remain that way".)

Calling him a terrorist is ridiculous, but some seriously believe he is a CIA asset.

China should stick to killing their own citizens in Tibet and sending bills to the familys for bullets instead of "bringing wisdom to the world". People are quick to call the west names. Remember that China has labelled the Dalai Lama, a renowned peace figure, a "terrorist".
I almost wish the USA would pull out of the Pacific just to see the looks on peoples faces once China annexes all of Asia. Im sure they would come up with even dumber theories like "It was the west dressed as Chinese soldiers" or "The zionists have infiltrate d the Chinese and made them behave like the west OMG!!!!!!!".
1.2 billion people running low on space and resources. Watch how that will play into Chinas "peaceful" foreign policy. Oh, and while you guys are yelling "NO! China support Russia. China good guy", please tell me how many Chinese missiles are pointed at Taiwan, a sovereign&nbs p;country.

@ Mr Paulo Franca, You are right my friend. They are indeed 'Kings of Hypocrisy'! Although they'd rather introduce themselves as 'Kings of Democracy'(!), which is itself a big Hypocrisy! :))) .....As the great 'Mehatma Gandhi' says: "The Truth Never Harms a Cause that is Just."

Not a surprise at all to see China's restraint on this matter as always. Chinese' actions are based on a 'wisdom' and 'worldview' that's been developed through thousands of years of culture, statehood, history, and civilisation. No one expects them to behave like gangsters and pirates, as it's the case for some other UNSC members.

Just for the record: yesterday I made a comment here at RT and it was published right away. Then, I did the same at ABC News, using the very same words. They did not post it at all. The kings of democracy did not post my humble comment. I had written: do not trust western powers. Never! That's why I believe this even more today. As a matter of fact, the western powers are not worried about civilian populations. They only mind about their masters' secret plans, but have to use "good" reasons: devil in disguise. Remember this song: "... They don't are about us"? That's why I love RT.

Good on China! Even with the presence of Russia and China as opposing counterparts they managed to turn the UN into a sheer mockery; lately voting on resolutions to change regimes and bomb countries. INSANITY! Time the BRICS press them really hard and bring them to their senses.

"Text had been bridged"...Like on market:Look good what you bay..at home might be latte.Well done China(and Russia) for using Veto on this "rotten"resolution.. Honest nations don't pour petrol on fire here, becouse it will be far more victims if they do..Cpecial if they call for intervention to "protect peacefull civilians"(armed gangs who killing, hijacking civilians, police, sol diers..blowing up buidings, busses, cars ,pipelines, etc.) as it was in Libya...It was correct to use Veto!

I think the most dangerous undercurrent that anyone can and should feel here is that nations are being shamed to openly defend the whole concept of 'national sovereignty', what UN is supposed to protect. If national sovereignty was a dominant and respected theme in the UN and main stream media, no one would have had to DEBATE the veracity of "reports" coming out of a country as a basis to DECIDE if they should INTERFERE or not. The shear fact that China has to defend itself for upholding one of the most important elements of UN charter is a what we should be scared and ashamed of.
