The European Court of Human Rights says Russia should pay 3000 Euros in moral compensation to retired FSB officer Mikhail Trepashkin.

Trepashkin is currently serving a four year prison term for treason. The court said Russia is in violation of Article Three of the European Convention, which bans torture.

Trepashkin appealed to the Court, claiming he was illegally detained and tortured.

In 2005, a Russian court cleared him of the unlawful possession of arms and said he was detained illegally.
