Dagestani official wounded in assassination attempt

A local railway official in the republic of Dagestan in Northern Caucasus was badly injured in an explosion in the centre of Makhachkala on Monday. His driver was killed in the blast.
Mr Alilov is the head of the North Caucasian railway department in the city. He was injured when he was going past the railway station in the centre of Makhachkala. According to the report, the explosive device was planted in his car. Police say it was an assassination attempt.
