Dog guards forgotten baby overnight

June 23, 2011 13:10

A dog has guarded a three-month-old baby forgotten in the park for a whole night in the Russian city of Saratov. The baby had been left by a reckless mother, and was later found with the loyal dog sitting by the pram.

As the owner of a Rottweiler/German Shepherd mixed breed, I can say how loyal and affectionate the Rottweiler is, and it seems to take away none of the guarding ability of the German Shepherd.   I rresponsible owners have chosen Rotties because of their large size and intimidating reputation and chosen to make them mean, which is NOT the true character of the Rottie. If you meet a mean, aggressive Rott ie, know that the owner is human trash and avoid them.   My Rottie Shepherd sleeps outside my bedroom door and guards me all night. If I oversleep in the morning, he whimpers and whines until I wake up and let him know that I am OK.   Rotties tend to like children very much. At least the irresponsible mother had enough sense to own a Rottie that would take over when she failed to shoulder her responsibilities toward her child.   Don't forget the mother's drunk friends. They also forgot about the baby and dog.   Unfortunat ely, Rotties are sometimes bought by people who fail to realize the huge amount of food and high level of attention that Rotties demand. Rotties are not for negligent owners, as I find they need about 2 hours of attention at minimum per day. They will sulk if not given enough attention, as they crave spending time with their family or owner. They would rather be beaten than ignored, and have been known to tear things up just to get attention, which sometimes upsets owners with no common sense into thinking they have a problem dog. Don't get a Rottie if you can't give back some of the affection they are going to show toward you. It just isn't fair.

To be decided whether she is to be punished??!! WTF !!

She must be imprisoned on the spot and her baby must by all means be removed from her for life! She is twisted alcoholic who does not deserve to be in charge of even her own life.

Stories like this should give people the insight to realise that dogs and other animals are conscious, sentient creatures, with at least the same level of cognition as small children.  They should be treated with exactly the same amount of respect.  Unfortunately many people are too stupid to realise this.

Lada is more responsible than Olga, people like that don't deserve to have children.

RT can't be accused of being anti-American - the drunk woman was Russian! On the other hand, the hero-dog was also Russian!

First of all, let me say that I am so glad that the baby is okay and was not harmed in any way.
Second; of course this dog stood vigil overnight.  She would have probably stayed there until she drew her last breath.  She is a Rottweiler, and Rottweilers, as a breed, would never leave the side of a trusted master or family member.  They are NOT mindless, vicious killers as they are portrayed by the media.  Only ignorant owners and poor breeders produce those kinds of dogs.

All I read was the title Dog guards forgottenbaby over night and I knew it was a rottweiler. They are one of the most loyal breeds and wonderful family members. Regardless of Breed Specific Laws etc., IN YOUR FACE . The one thing that bothers me is they didn't put the breed of dog in the headline...they surely would have it it had been bad news.

This breed descended  from dogs the Romans brought to Germany to guard their provision depots.  I had a miniature pinscher who spent hours guarding her dog food from a mouse in the kitchen,

If that dumb broad still thinks only about getting hammered with her friends - she should not have a child. If she already has one - she must be legally pressed into giving up custody of it. Children are not her purse, you cant just forget them in the park and leave!

I agree if she only thinks of getting hammered she should not have a child. And she probably only has a child, because all she thought about was getting hammered!
It seems animals are more loyal than humans most of the time.

Isn't that the same breed of dog that protected the antichrist in the movie the Omen?

Dog is one of loyal animals.   He might live in other places for his own goods.   He is always loyal to the his old lord and his people who live in same country or same continent.   Lucky that child is alife.
