Ukraine, Russia, the pro-Russian rebels and the OSCE made another attempt Monday to reach an accord. Rebels dropped their demand for full independence and expressed readiness to negotiate a settlement that would respect Ukraine's territorial integrity in exchange for a broad autonomy for its eastern provinces.

"We don't cooperate with terrorist organizations," said Iryna Herashchenko, the presidential envoy for E. Ukraine.

An d Oleh Tyanhybok, leader of the nationalist Svoboda party, said "I would warn the president and diplomats from sitting at the talks table" with rebels.

Who really runs Kiev? Svoboda Party?

I guess then it is fair to say that those countries that recognized Kosovo did it only based on a declaration of independence?[/quote ]

Good morning, Ivana. No country will be recognized only for the declaration. Kosovo was recognized cause it happened a lot in the 17 years between referendum and declarance, and it's too complex to discuss with you 17 years of history.
If you think EU/UN politics are s hit, and Russia wants to take revenge now, then say it loud! But don't tell fairytales about genocide in Ukraine, Putin as honest peacemaker and Russia with better moral.

'I guess you need some excuse for the complete failure of the very dirty war Ukraine waged.'

Aft er Iraq, Afghanistan and now this mess, I'm beginning to think American military advisers may not be all they are advertised to be?

Keiv media says, Olenivka was one of the bases the Ukraine army used to launch attacks on Donetsk.

local residents said, insurgents drove around it in their shabby cars, after pushing the Ukrainian troops out overnight, .
Not really what you would expect a Russian invasion to look like. I guess you need some excuse for the complete failure of the very dirty war Ukraine waged.

No- one recognized Kosovo after the referendum in 1991. Only Albania. So it was not a valid referendum.

Good evening Volker. Thank you! :)

I guess then it is fair to say that those countries that recognized Kosovo did it only based on a declaration of independence?

The DPR & LPR have reduced their demand to split from Ukraine and are now proposing an autonomous state within Ukraine.
Cant see how Ukraine can live with this, but what choice do the have? The situation has to be resolved.

Volker 02.09.2014 21:48

Ivana 02.09.2014 17:16

One simple answer is enough, there are no facettes you should worry about. Of 5 referendums you consider Kosovo Albanians from 1991, the only one valid?

No-one recognized Kosovo after the referendum in 1991. Only Albania. So it was not a valid referendum.

Anyway, can the country where the Neonazy party is legal be normal??

Yes. In Germany the NPD (which is very similar to Svoboda) is also legal. Though the government even tries to prohibit is, it is not possible, cause highest judges decided that it is against German constitution to forbid them.
I hope, Russia will not its green men to Germany for this reason...

Rank-and-file troops increasingly have voiced exasperation at what they say is government mismanagement of the war. Anatoly Babchenko, a soldier captured Sunday by the rebels, was unsparing in his criticism.

"First they drove people to hunger, and now they've driven them to war," Babchenko said from a basement cell at the Starobesheve police station. "They call this an anti-terrorist operation, but this is a civil war. Brother killing brother."

I liked the comment of an old woman in Khryaschivate, the woman tells she is 'happy - our guys have come, finished the Nazi power'

The 35-year old commander began creating the battalion after he was released from pre-trial detention in February in the wake of pro-western protests in Kiev. He had denied a charge of attempted murder, claiming it was politically motivated.

A former history student and amateur boxer, Mr Biletsky is also head of an extremist Ukrainian group called the Social National Assembly. “The historic mission of our nation in this critical moment is to lead the White Races of the world in a final crusade for their survival,” he wrote in a recent commentary. “A crusade against the Semite-led Untermenschen.”

Darko Baljak 02.09.2014 20:21

Kiev’s use of volunteer paramilitaries to stamp out the Russian-backed Donetsk and Luhansk “people’s republics”, proclaimed in eastern Ukraine in March, should send a shiver down Europe’s spine. Recently formed battalions such as Donbas, Dnipro and Azov, with several thousand men under their command, are officially under the control of the interior ministry but their financing is murky, their training inadequate and their ideology often alarming.

T he Azov men use the neo-Nazi Wolfsangel (Wolf’s Hook) symbol on their banner and members of the battalion are openly white supremacists, or anti-Semites.

Why would Russian mothers crying their dead sons in Ukraine be a topic on RT? This has not been decided to be in the headlines

If you think we are idiots that we do not understand why "mothers" are chosen for traditional orthodox environment, then you are wrong.

Where are US mothers to worry about their sons fighting for corporations somewhere around the world for peanuts.

If Russians are fighting, that is because liers are in front of their doors. The same ones promising not to expand... I think you should ask halfbright why they are fighting.
