@ Defender of Europe, I do not think the Russians or the Americans are any more stupid than the average human, and the Russian people showed their distrust of the protest organizers by voting for Putin.  That counts for a lot of smarts, in my opinion.   Putin and Medvedev are handling the protesters cleverly, not shutting them down and not letting the police club them over the head, but forcing the organizers to follow the rules and publicizing who funds them. The police response to Monday's protest that stayed over its permit was pretty slick - they herded, not attacked, and it made the obstinant remaining protesters look like they wanted a riot for the TV coverage.  There is a balancing act between too liberal and too harsh treatment of protests.  It would look bad if the government shut down all protests because some of them, or even most of them, are led by people in the pay of foreigners.  In the propaganda war, appearances count for much and countries with "bad" reputations can suddenly find themselves the target of currency wars or trade wars.  That is why I disagree when some here say all dissenters and protesters should be arrested.  That can be a trap.  Perhaps Russia is SUPPOSED to treat protesters brutally, otherwise how could the elites in USA and Europe find support for any "action" to "punish" bad old Russia?  The worst they have been able to say, now, is that Russia arrested some protesters.  Big deal, we do that every day in USA.  But Russia is the one that has to be careful.  It is Russia that, as recently as 2008, was being set up as another name on the list of "Rogue Nations" that NATO should target missiles for.  It is a very subtle and very clever war, and it is done with smiling faces and handshakes.  Like the Bible verse says, Russia has to be innocent as a lamb and sly as a fox. From what I can see of what happened in Moscow, it looks like Putin is playing this situation like a violin.  May he continue to do so.  Good luck to him and God protect him.  And Russia.  And by extension, America.  Because it is hurting us to be involved in this propaganda war but our leadership will not stop.

I suspect that Putin will delegate tasks to the members that achieved a partnership vote.
Each to their Merits.
Although I'm not sure which Merits God's Monkey Zhirinovsky has ...
Will RT be feeding him peanuts?____________ ____________________ ____________________ ______ Did you know “The God´s Monkey” Zhirinovsky has most of his supporters by the Russian youth? WHY don’t you go back to the jungle Aussi aborigine - or British/Irish domesticated such??

...Why should dissidents be punished because they are dissidents?  Russia is big enough to ignore mosquitos. ... But sometimes dissidents act like nerves that tell a body something is wrong and needs to be fixed.  Even if we acknowledge that foreign meddlers led some of the protests, they were successful to the extent that many of the people who attended had legitimate grievances. The protests in Moscow before the election acted like nerves, and the government paid attention. Rightly so.  The government also publicized who was behind the protest leadership.  That was also rightly so.  Let the people decide if they want to shun a protest movement or follow it. _____________ __
IMO you overestimate the people's ability to see the truth. Do you really believe, US-americans, Brits, French, Germans are much more stupid than Russians? The difference is, Putin has given Russia back to the Russians, he reduced zionist power. This is not the case in the western ZOGs. And the zionist propaganda really works well.So if you say, the "opposition" was not dangerous, then you are underestimating the power and the money behind those, forces, that work for the NWO-agenda. And you do not honor, the gigantic struggle that Mr. Putin has won, when he successfully gave Russia back to the Russians.DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE ZIONISTS and fall victim of their lies of the "clever people". They know, we are not clever. We do not recognize how their media work and we do not recognize that the western countries are ZOGs.Therefore a nation needs a LEADER who is able to protect it, against their poison.

ALJAZEERA ENGLISH, is not in a position to criticise Mr Putin election win...!! I would like to remind everyone that QATAR IS RUNNING A EVEL BARBARIC DICTATOR REGIME. which haven't got a place in today world. I think Aljazeera should take a good look at there evel barbaric dictator regime they have in their country and stop push their nose into other country election. sure the people of Qatar would like to get the chance to have a voting process so they can choose their own government instead of force to live under a EVEL BARBARIC DICTATOR REGIME .    &n bsp; Don't even worry about al jazeera.  It's long been taken over as a propaganda arm for the zionists and their illuminati collaborators.
***I am glad you mentioned that. Al Jazeera English got so much like CNN that I had to stop watching. Something happened to them.

this is fascinating picture: Putin sitting with ‘Opposition” leaders minus one. Only these three figures represent 15% of the total vote. But on the streets of Moscow, anti-Putin demonstrators do not seem to have clear specific demands such fair wages but are listening to cheap western music and are being asked to chant “Russia without Putin”. Is Putin really willing to play this game? Putin must know these are the Russian youth on the streets with empty bellies and even emptier heads. This is a brewing disaster for Russia. Putin does not need to sit down with oligarchs and ultra nationalists—he needs to work for the people and get rid of the western sponsored agitators who are deceiving the youth to dead ends. I have supported and bloged for you and now you are being elected President- stop wasting your time and start working for the people- do not cut deals with thieves and oligarchs.

I like how people are freaked out about "frauds", "violations", "fairness", "democracy" during election processes. Like there  ;are has some significance, values, and rational behind those terms. In the human society, like in any other group of animals on this planet, the strongest rules and controls the reproduction on certain territory. Everything else is just an entourage called Politics, which is used to maintain some social order and control of the weak-minded (the majority)... If somebody becomes a leader, it means that guy is the strongest and the most cunning at the moment. So, let him rule... until the moment when somebody even more cunning and smart arrives and replaces him... By playing games called "democratic elections" or just by using the force to take the Top Palace and put himself there...
