A gateway to Siberia, the Kurgan region lies south of the Ural Mountains and is dissected by the Trans-Siberian railway. At its heart is Kurgan City, one of Siberia's oldest cities, and one which is developing a new life for its senior citizens.

If you are willing to buy a car, you will have to receive the loan. Furthermore, my mother always uses a financial loan, which occurs to be really useful.

With cutbacks in Social Security and Medicare, PLUS rising cost of living expenses, this could be an excellent basis for a larger program to merge young families who are also often cash poor with these pensioners-thus creating better lifestyles for both, smaller energy footprints, and freeing up housing. It's something the Russian (more likely) and the US (fat chance) should "spear-head".

I live in Britian and i wished that all the nursing homes here were run by older people instead of low paid immigrants that dont care for the old people, and then i read this!! is it a joke?? This is a modern world where nobody cares if you old or have a skill, todays world is all about money and space room for all the technoilgy but no room for the old. I have said and always will say.... PUT ME IN JAIL DO NOT PUT ME IN AN OLD PEOPLES HOME!! at least in jail in britian you are well cared for not left to rot in a bed of your own filth.

This is a wonderful program, and countries everywhere should try it.  I used to run nursing homes for a living and it was all about the bottom line, which is a digusting theme when trying to render quality care to elderly and frail and medically needy people.  Assisted Living facilities look a lot nicer, but provide unskilled help and not much of it, all the while dressing it up with a prettier facade.  All of it in the name of profit.  While their are some nice places out there, in the hundreds of homes I saw, only one or two sticks out in my mind that was really nice, and both were very expensive and available to the top 10% of income earners.  This program seems to offer a mutually beneficial solution to all concerend.

First, thank you RT and thank your wonderful reporter Oksana Boyko. Second, it will be a tragic mistake for Russia to adopt the U.S style institutionalised care of the elderly. The reasons why Russia must reject this model of elderly care are complex and I cannot unpacked them here. Suffice it to say that with the institutionalisation of the elderly there is the severing of the continuity of passing knowledge from the elderly generation to the future generation. For that reason alone, the state should increase incentives for adopt a granny program. Also this program is possible in Russia where traditional values of family ties and respect for parents and grandparent are still strong. Third, turning caring for elderly into a business does not been the elderly will became happier and more independent. Instead , they will be institutionalised. Finally, RT should spend on its money reporting on important programs such as this report.
