Wow! 70% are renting homes! Add to this a guy losing his apartment can't get help from the social safety net. Is this the reason they have a lot of money to lend to other countries?

I am just about shocked to see how many people speak horridly about Germans. I find them to be honest, friendly, open and very helpful people. Let the past go. These people had nothing to do with it. Time to grow up as well. Most of you posting have never even been to Germany. One of the greatest countries I have been to. Time to mature everyone, we are getting a little sick of your bs.

You have identified yourself as a researcher. I/we do expect you do basic research and base your analysis on scientific imperatives. Germans are themselves victims of fascism that has never ended. The old fascists were re-branded and redeployed to serve the interests of the new master of Germany: the United States. Here we are speaking about a German town of two hundred thousand people and only thirty thousand of them own their own flat! Could you shed some informed light on this fact. We need to avoid mudding the waters here. I am sensing the Germans have being turned to slaves to benefit specific nations and corporations and that most Germanys cannot express their own views- because they no longer have the skills to do so or they are afraid to express their true feelings. Most Germans have in fact been turned into zombies and German education teaches Germans little analytical or useful knowledge. We had somebody from Germany expressing in this very bog that no German media can say anything bad about the U.S! Can you tell something about how the German education and society function. Also could you tell us why only 30% of the citizens of this city- and most likely other German cities live in rented flats and also who owns the wealth of Germanys?

I have  been living  in Germany before reunion  and  after reunion. There was ( is)  much  different  how  german  authorities behave toward forigners  before reunion  after  reunion. Germans  show  after  reunion  their  real  fascist face.  It  would  be  better  if  russians  occupy  fascist  Germany  again.I  think  we  must  start  to punish Germans  in forign  countries  for  their  fascist  mentality.

who owns the 70% of the rented flats in the city? (unregistered) 05.07.2012 00:03

Nobody seem to want to address that more than 70% of the citizens of the city live in rented apartments. Germany is a rich country- so how it is possible that no more than 30% of the citizens of the city can own their own flats? Second, who owns the city? From the last comment by German Housewife, I believe the social worker and bailiff and the new owner were working together and conspiring to evict this man and his girlfriend. I believe the man felt humiliated and he acted out.

thank you for your information. Based on your information ( thank you for that), the flat was sold below its real market value. And the people came to throw the man and his girl friend out. I see must have been humiliating to the dead man. Is there any call for broadening or calling for a new investigation to this practice: selling property below its market values and also throwing people out from their apartments in this rude manner in the future?

Well... I had to read it in german to gain some extra information to how the situation unfolded.

I t seems that the flat was a force sale, and typical for those are, that the flat is sold far under the true value, reason was they were behind with their payments.  In the morning those three guys, the one who bought the flat, the other one who opened it, a social worker and the bailiff went there to throw them out, and had even a removal van organised.

It seems that the guy and his girlfriend had yet not organized to move out and were overchallenged with the situation to be kicked out. They tried to sweettalk them, but when the guy was not listened to, he brought his weapons drank his alkohol and smoked, its also likely in this cases that there are medical drugs in use, that lead to group suicide.

As far as i can judge the situation it is unusual for a german to have such weapons. It is also a rare and lunatic reaction to throw your life away just because you are asked to move, especially because the state takes good care of jobless or homeless people, and has a soft pillow to catch those who fall.

Seems tragic... Most of those guys had family and children.

Germany attacked Europe and brought ruinations to Russian and the rest of Europe. So what gives the Americans the moral prerogative to occupy Germany more than 67 years since the end of WWII? Also do the Germany feel free to talk about the Russians?

Germany did not attack Europe, they attacked Poland. Then GB/France attacked Germany. I agree, the occupation has to end. Unfortunately, when you say that as a German in Germany you risk being considered a Nazi without rights. It's all quite sad.
As far as I can say from personal experience there is the occasional bad word against Russians living in Germany from Germans. But generally these words are uttered in private and very silently if you know what I mean.
And they are not entirely unjustified. I had some bad experiences involving aggressive behaviour and beatings with Russians when I was in my teens, too. Also they tend to speak rather mediocre German and when they speak to each other even in public they tend to use their native tongue, which is understandable but nevertheless kind of unnerving. There are exceptions, mind you.
I don't think the Russians are to blame for that though. It's the German government who let too many immigrants enter Germany in a very short time. This complicates assimilation and naturally creates parallel societies where different rules apply and different languages are spoken.
In general however, it is considered totally inappropriate in Germany to have negative feelings towards any minority groups. Be that gays, Turks, Russians or what have you. People are affraid of being called a Nazi, because that means social exclusion and that you can loose your job
This also means that basic human rights no longer apply to you. Consider this sentence from the article:
"...the suspect, whose name wasn’t released in accordance with German privacy laws..."There was a rather strange media campaign in Germany over the past half year or so which linked three "Neo-Nazis" to the murder of ten people of mainly Muslim origin over the period of some ten years. This whole case is highly flimsy in my view and it is beyond a doubt that the German secret service was involved.
Anyway, the media made public the names and photos of the three alleged killers in no time, including the only surviving member of the trio Beate Zschäpe who is now behind bars. Bye bye human rights.

Germany is still mentally, culturally, militarily, scientifically and socially and economically colonised by the U.S. That means, Germany is a colony of the United States. Read the book the German Card.

Just wildly curious.  How in the world is this German maniac's actions the fault of the US?  Everyone must take responsibility for their own lunatics.  It is unfortunate that this man was not able to pay his rent.  Although I don't know the details, there is a good chance that the problem lies with the world economy.  The people to blame for the troubles in the economy are the multi-national corporations and banks who have been robbing us blind for the last 30 years.  If you want to blame anyone, blame them.  But killing your girlfriend, landlord, and new tenant is not a sane response.
