The breakaway Georgian Republic of Abkhazia claims to have shot down an unmanned Georgian air-reconnaissance vehicle.
Abkhazian Defence Minister Ruslan Kishmaria said the plane had infringed border agreements.
“It was hit over the sea after being detected by Abkhazia's air force. Georgia has broken borders several times and we'd warned them about possible actions on our side,” he said.
An official statement on the issue is expected later.
Georgia has yet to comment on the claims.
