Georgian coastal guards have detained a freighter with 14 Russian citizens aboard off Batumi, the capital of Georgia's former breakaway region, Adzharia.

The Court of Appeals in the town of Kutaisi releases the captain of the Turkish tanker Buket who was sentenced to 24 years in prison for violating Georgia’s rules on sailing into “occupied territories” near Abkhazia.
Representatives of Georgia and South Ossetia failed to agree on the place for holding the consultations. The EU mission in Georgia calls on both sides to cooperate.
