January 14, 2012 18:52

The Indian government has sanctioned the prosecution of 21 web companies, including giants Google and Facebook, for publishing offensive content, warning that it will block the websites “like in China” if no pre-moderation takes place.

I have a facebook account, one time I access it and I realize it was blocked. It said someone in Ukraine was using my account. My profile had information about Israel, and it was Anti-Zionist. So be careful when using Facebook, I closed my account

Control freaks. They are testing the waters now that China has got its filters running and the US has plenty cooking over there with the NDAA passed and SOPA and the like, trying to push its way through. They play the "hate speech" card and use the tender "R" word to their fancy. Proponents of censorship listen up. You are asking for way more than you can imagine and you are tearing liberties apart strand by strand. One day you will be a mindless coward (which I guess you are already pretty close to being). A sheep that needs to be shown how to live. You think you have value? The govt. doesn't value you. You need to value YOURSELF. You are not a mindless sheep in need to be subservient to a god. PEOPLE WILL GET WHAT THEY DESERVE. THE LONGER SENSIBLE PEOPLE SIT QUITELY WITH THIS ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM, THE MORE INEVITABLE THE DEATH OF HUMAN LIBERTY BECOMES.

Oh please.. the Indian government doesn't care. They hope they can push America to put in some sort of monitor and censorship department, for 1, cause they don't want their ugly ways exposed, and 2.. they hope we will send all the work over there for them to do it. If someone over there doesn't like what's on FB... Don't look.

Damn religion again.Banning Facebook fot its bad behavior, lack of privacy, or making money with oure internet info, i can understand. But banning it for drawings, text or pics is stupid. And again those muslims again. Why cant those ppl have some humor? Look how they talk, write and show the other religions? And when the other religions say, write or draw some about the muslims the world is to smal. You know what you may do with your religions? Stick it in your behind . Always problems. And i didnt know that India is an muslim country. When the muslims dont like it there than go to Pakistan. And demanding secorship is the most stupid thing they can ask. It wil boomerang back to them.

all this internet stuff is there to make the population dumb. in a "liberal" (=zionist culture-controlled) country (e.g. usa, europe countries etc) youtube, google and facebook contain good things (news, education videos etc etc) which you cant find anywhere else. because the education system, cutlural program etc is already made for dumbing population. i dont know the situation in india but lets pretend (i really dont know excuse my ignorance) india is >not< a such a country i.e. it has an education system which actually educates, a good cultural program then those "good things" of facebook/google/yout ube are not needed anymore. instead the dumbing of the population will be monopolized through those sites. again, in (e.g.) germany you can get good things through those sites, while the political system already is brainwashing you. in india (presuming) you can get mostly bad things through those sites because the political system is >not<brainwash ing you but already gives you those "good things" (education, cultural consciousness etc etc)so this is actually not that stupid IF indian government does this.

Internet like free speech should be free of censorship, pre-conditioning, SOPAs of all kinds and various communistic Great Firewalls.

On that note, some people say it's western proganda. Well it's as much that as it is China's cyberwarfare tool, so that makes them equal.

In fact some people suggest that internet access is a human right, couldn't agree more.

The guy that thought of Arab Spring was an Arab and the idea was probably thought up by people that saw they were getting oppressed.  If you live in one of these countries that sees a world build up around you, they probably want the change themselves.  Arab Spring was probably thought by the Mideast.  Are you one of those Opressors Alex that think that the weak should always stay weak?

The Chinese know exactly what this technology is used for. It is a new psywar toy for the West. Only thing is the West cannot censor like the East so the Western liberal democracies will inevitably be the most vulnerable. As far as the twitter espionage goes in the Middle East the West should just wait for the ricochet.

That would be one wierd' country to have a Sopa'd 14.01.2012 23:45

Version of the Hindu and Koran culture combined.  It will just keep them poorer.  Hopefully the Indian government is smart enough to see thru this nonsense.

I am Indian. I live in India. sometimes visit abroad.and I am ASHAMED of this nonsense by Indian Govt and the judge.
and I am ASHAMED of all these people who demand websites remove content that is offensive to some random people in the country.
Indians are collectively better than this.  Kapil Sibal (the minister) has already said the DUMBEST things. check youtube for his videos. and India is represented by this fella? I will expect Google, Yahoo etc sites to completely ignore this from the judge.
India is NOT china - we are better than that.

The reason behind this is the same reasons behind SOPA and PIPA, it really has nothing to do with Piracy or Offensive Images, its about information control and stopping a people from educating themselves. Yes, there are sites out there that do porno, but looking at them is a choice. What disturbs me is, notice the sites mentioned  Google and Facebook which have a social aspect rather, communication, but what do I know

If I see something that offends me personally which isn't all that easy. I either stop looking at it or try to find out why or what the point is of the perceived offence.

Banning a search engine for including pornography is like banning pencils for being able to draw pornography.  What ever happened to 'don't shoot the messenger' ?
