Six leading world powers are meeting on Saturday to discuss imposing new sanctions against Iran, as concerns about its nuclear programme remain.

UN security council members and Germany have said they will pass a new resolution if there is no progress by early December.

The meeting in Paris follows Friday's talks between Iranian and European negotiators which produced no breakthrough.

Russia and China have resisted tougher sanctions against Iran, while the U.S., France and Britain have been pressing a firmer
stance.

Iran has promised that its atomic programme is peaceful, and vows to continue enrichment in spite of any sanctions.
