@DonaldGeorge Bush senior, during Regan, was the CIA think tank and advisor to Pentagon.During Regan,Zionism established itself in all aspects of US foreign policies. There were more Bergs and Bergers in Reagan`s administration than Mcdonald. Can you name any major war during Saddam`s presidency, that caused Americans ,any deaths?.

Saddam was at the time a balloon which was overinflated by Zionists, the US and the UK. He was so gullible and foolish that the Zionists were manipulating him to their eventual ends, even the invasion of Kuwait (which historically part of Iraq) was planned for by the Zionists in Israel, the US and the UK in order to occupy the oil field of Iraq and to keep extracting protection money from the Gulf sheikdoms. If Saddam had any sense or wisdom he should have seen this coming or at least could have minimized the damage by pulling the troops earlier from Kuwait. But the man lacked wisdom, education and foresight to the extent that he thought that he could achieve his aims by slaughtering his critics irrespective of their ethnicity or political affiliation. Iraq at the hands of Saddam Hussein was reduced to nothing in all aspects of civilized living and this will remain his everlasting legacy.

Aryan: Your post represents the very kind of myths that I was trying to dispel. To start with, you have your historical facts wrong. Bush Sr. was not even in the US government in 1978. He was a private citizen preparing to run for the Republican nomination (which, of course he lost to Reagan). Jimmy Carter was president and Stansfield Turner was head of the CIA. If the US was so worried about the Islamic Revolution in Iran, why did they covertly supply arms to Iran, and why did Israel aid the new Islamic government of Iran by destroying the Osirak nuclear reactor during the war with Iraq? The fact is the Baath Party`s policies were more detrimental to western colonial interests than anything coming out of Iran. Baathist Iraq nationalized all western oil interests, and used the money to educate and provide health care for the people of Iraq. They signed a Treaty of Friendship and Co-operation with the USSR during the height of the Cold War. And what about the thousands of Iraqi officers that were trained at Soviet military academies during this time? You should know that Saddam Hussein had a close relationship with that old Soviet foreign affairs master himself, Yevgeny Primakov. Any relations he had with the western countries were simply of convenience. As for not killing "even one US or UK soldier", the US, since invading in 2003 has suffered over 4,400 troops killed and tens of thousands seriously wounded in Iraq at the hands of the Baathist armed resistance. This resistance is still being co-led by Saddam Hussein`s deputy and loyalist Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, who is the only one of the top Baathist leadership to have evaded capture and execution by the Americans. Incidentally, he just appeared in a news clip a few weeks ago to show that he is still alive and at large.
It appears that the Americans and the British taught the Iraqi security forces well. The western powers will keep the Iraqis fighting among themselves and at the same time, under severe oppression, while the big oil giants continue pump billions of barrels of oil to the American Empire.

@ DonaldIn 1978,there was a military coup d`atat in Iraq ,orchestrated by George Bush senior, which gave rise to Saddam as the dictator, rather than a Baath party selected president, after closing all other political parties in Iraq.Later on, Pakistan,Turkey and Egypt went through the same faiths. Why?Iran revolution scared western imperialism so much, that in order to stop the emigration of revolution to other countries in Middle east, they chose to establish friendly dictatorships,as they though they loose their power and influence in ME,if the revolution in Iran succeed. As for Kuwait, that was an arrangement between Saddam and Pentagon after Saddam ,having lost to Iran and $80 Billion in debt,Saddam supposedly goes into Kuwait and then West pays Saddam`s debt and once US move in,then would establish 17 US military basis in ME.(West achieved his targets but never paid Saddam a Cent either)Saddam killed millions of Iranians,Kurds and Iraqis, but not even one US or UK soldiers in 30 years.Saddam was the most loyal and useful dictator,Pentagon has ever had.
Before reacting to the report we must know who is Human Rights Watch. Is is an objective and facts base organisation? or is it just a propaganda machine? And what the past of HRW tell us? Did it report about Iraq tragedy in an objective way? And the Palestine tragedy of this 60 plus years? Georgia massacre of southern ossetians?
Saddam Hussein`s military was overwhelmingly Soviet supplied, with between 4 and 5 thousand Soviet built T-55, T-62, T-64, and T-72 tanks. He had more Soviet-made tanks than any other country in the world, other than the Soviet Union itself. It was the superiority of Soviet supplied artillery and Soviet trained officers which allowed Saddam Hussein to defeat the numerically superior US/Israel supported Iranians in that war. Flush with this victory, the powerful Iraqi military was set to roll across the gulf region, toppling the feudal US vassal states (with Kuwait being the first to fall in 1990), and expunging the legacy of colonial-era divisions from Arab lands. Unfortunately for Saddam Hussein, it was right around this time that the Soviet Union was inexplicably in the process of de-establishing itself. In one of the most colossal foreign policy blunders of all time, the traitorious Gorbachev-Shevardnad ze-Yakovlev clique decided to abandon the USSR`s strong friend and ally and leave him at the mercy of the criminal US/Israel axis. If the USSR had maintained its support for Baathist Iraq, today there would have been no more bloodthirsty corrupt Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait etc., no war of aggression against Libya, no terrorist attacks against Syria, and Russia would have had a powerful United Arab Republic ally in the Middle-East. They absolutely blew this chance. Centuries from now, when the Arab people finally succeed in throwing off the yoke of colonialism, Saddam Hussein will be widely regarded among the Arab people as one of the greatest Arab leaders in history, who attempted to forge a vision for a united Arab people before its time, and who was abandoned by his friends and stabbed in the back by those who should have been his natural allies. A true son of the Arab soil.
The media has made Saddam appear as the worst Villian; now Iraqis see the real villians. Because Islam cannot bridge the division between different Islamic sects, thsi give room for others to manipulate one against the other. As long as the leaders of the different groups see differently, the Moslem Umah will be divided and never united into forming a global economic power-house.
This is absolute rubbish and it only shows the dubious character of the so-called NGOs.The HRW,a USA based NGO,is aware that the Iraq army has been trained and armed by the trigger-happy Yankees who have nothing to do with the so-called Human rights. The Iraq army is only putting into practice the skills it has acquired from the master killers.
The torture and slaughter of the Iraqi people which began with the US invasion contin ues unabated under the auspices of the criminal puppet regime that they hope to maintain in power. There are a several misconceptions and myths about Iraq which need to be clarified in order for people to have a better understanding of the situation. The first and most widespread myth is that Saddam Hussein was somehow allied with the US and just lost favour with them. Nothing could be further from the truth. Indeed, if one looks at what transpired during the Iran-Iraq war, they would see that the US/Israel axis even at a time of great tension between them and Iran, supported Iran in that war. Iran even offered the Israelis the use of an Iranian air base when Israel bombed and destroyed the Irakiya nuclear reactor in 1981. Then, just recall the Iran-Contra scandal where the US covertly supplied weapons to Iran for use against Iraq. The truth is that the US/Israel axis always saw a secular Baathist-led Iraq as the primary threat to both Israel and the corrupt feudal Gulf States, including the House of Saud. Therefore, Iraq had to be destroyed, in the eyes of the US/Israel axis. To be continued...
mr. west. this comment is to you.(the comment that says iraqis are uncivilized.) you seem to be quick to forget that the United States has held countless overt operations of assasination, beatings, rape, and torture. stop being foolish. every country has it's corruption. you seem to forget about the authorization the government has to detain you indefinetely. our corrupt society is no different then theres. the CIA still kidnaps countless numbers of people. hell in the 1900's they kidnapped citizens and pumped them full of Acid/LSD to conduct memory wiping experiments. people like you are the ones who mess it up for everyone else. your prejudice attitude is a rampent disease. you can't honestly say our country is better unless you have no clue what your talking about.
and America spent trillion of dollars for this. To have another Sadam just one that looks different. We still have the dumbest gov't on Earth. Great job America, I am about to pay 3.78 a gallon for gas today as well.
