Israel has celebrated sixty years of independence with a stunning fireworks display and military parade. The nation was founded in 1948, sparking controversy and conflict that has lasted to this day.
Israel’s leaders and politicians gathered for an evening ceremony in Tel Aviv.
Earlier on Wednesday, Israel remembered its fallen soldiers.
One of Tel Aviv's largest skyscrapers was lit up to display the Israeli flag, as thousands gathered for a concert.
