Why would Israel do this to the US? Without the United States or superpower support, Israel is nothing.

Foreign intelligence agencies are active, or have 'informers', in every country in the world. They gather information for analysis etc from many, many sources. This is simply what they do. Some call this vigilance, some call it spying. Being aware of what other countries are doing, or even just what an individual in a country is doing, is just common sense. It doesn't really matter if the country is friendly or not. It would actually be strange if the intelligence agencies were not active. Israel and the US are a special case however, as it is sometimes difficult to work out which country has the most influence over the other. Remember the Israeli PM boasting in public about ordering Bush to the phone and how he came running? Israeli agents in the US and US agents in Israel, it doesn't matter, they are just doing their job.

Come on, Sarah. Don't tell me you are so naive. For Israerl, there is no difference between friend and foe. They are all targets "for Israel's security."

Jim, it's still against the law in the US, regardless of what you wrote. Those breaking the law for espionage should be held to account, and their networks rounded up as required under LAW.

Contentions regarded undocumented Israeli spying. hmmm. Some uninformed clowns spreading these allegations hmm... Sounds to me like purposeful disinformation. What is happening to the US?

The relationship between Israel and the US has always been "the tail wagging the dog". Israel illegal expansion at the Palistinians' expense has caused untold problems for the US. These range from John Pollard's crimes, to the US acting as Israel's surrogate in the United Nations. The resulting mess in the Palestinian Territories can only be resolved if the US applies its considerable laverage on the Israeli leadership. Dream on.
