Annan plan ‘only chance for peace’ but stalled by intervention supporters - Lavrov

June 09, 2012 12:13

External players are goading opposition in Syria to military action; this may lead to a Libyan scenario, the Russian Foreign Minister says. Moscow is calling for an international conference “under the UN umbrella” to implement the Annan plan.

agree with you. I believe Russia has been outfoxed in Syria because when Russia forced peace plan on Syria—the Syrian army was at the urge of defeating the terrorists. This period of reprieve was sought by the West and terrorists and Russians gave it to them. Now Lavrov sounds frustrated but unless Israeli lobby is at plays a role in Russia’s foreign policy toward Syria-- then I cannot logically understand why Russia is not more aggressive in Syria. Qatar and Saudi Arabia openly support terrorists in Syria and West provides the intelligence for the terrorists. But until this press conference the Russians have speaking only obliquely when it comes to Western role in fueling on the conflict in Syria. I knew the Houla Massacre was done by the Sunni terrorist two days after the horrific crimes was committed by Syrian media showed the name of the families and it was clear they were not Sunni and few Sunni families were targeted because they wanted peaceful resolution to the conflict. Russians did not confront the West with these facts and Russia still insist the Annan plan would work even when in the case of Houla Massacre the UN members on the ground gave what appears to be total fabrication of the facts—The only solution to the crisis in Syria is strong support of Syria with new and state of art surveillance border technologies; and help the Syrian army flush out the terrorists and only then start peaceful dialogue and political transition.

Through Syrian crisis, West and Nato checking ability and talent of Russis and China and therefore Mr Putun and Mr. Hu (china) must act now before it is too late.
There sh ould be PLAN B organize by Russia and China in case NATO attach Syria without UN resolution. Most probably Russia must move its tactical combat Naval presence to Middle east region as first step of long term strategic counter plan.

Cooomooon ... Lavrov said everything that needs to be said just in one sectance: "... they supply them with money, weapons ..."

How can western media just ignore this statement?

Russia is not even hiding that they are selling weapons to Assad. On top of that, they spread rumors about other countries smuggling weapons. That's why nobody cares about what Lavrov says.

Taking sides is the problem in Syria...regime change like Iraq is the underlying theme in the West. Russia asks for moderation and China agrees with the Russian stance. Naturally Madame Clinton and her assistant at the UN Madame Rice are knee deep in a quagmire of their own making. If you pick a fight in the middle east then you will be caught in a spiders web...Israel/Palesti ne has shown itself to be a prolonged experiment in agony and in the name of a biblical mission in the old testament. Why dont we throw away the proverbs and promises of a holy land and start all over again. We may have to after Israel and Iran destroy each other in their coming war. Duration: 9 hours maximum. Qatar pick a fight with someone your own size!

Mr. Lavrov is one of the greatest statesmen of all time.  While I watched him speak on RT, I noticed he did not appear too concerned Syria would fall to the “international co mmunity” which comprises just four warmongers out of almost 200 independent nations , viz the USA (now in debt for $16 Trillion), the lost tiny empires UK and France, and the illegitimate regime in occupied Palestine.
Th e USA has previously challenged allies of Russia and China previously, lost tens of thousands of U.S. soldiers in Korea and Viet Nam, and is mortified about challenging Russia and China once more, as it may result in a war on their own homeland.  And that one will involve more than two buildings in NYC.   An error by Obama who thinks a victory in Syria will get him reelected will get his own regime toppled, and Mother Russia under Putin standing victorious.   I see a lot of hype on the U.S. media, designed to mislead American viewers about the blame for the carnage in Syria.  They do not get news about the “international community” arming terrorists.   As usual, Americans do not follow the real news;  they see Egypt and Libya toppled, but those countries are far from democratic now.   After years of pretending to democratize Iraq, the U.S. was booted out last December, and Iraq is now friendly with big Shia brother to its east.  The hasty U.S. exit was matched only by the hasty retreat from Viet Nam.  Compare that with any withdrawal from WWII in Germany and Japan—None at all for almost 70 years.

So many pieces of the International Puzzle are set against the easier transition of the other White House and its Euro Cronies to the Flat Tax Rate.   The recipients of this gross neglect of historiography are all those who felt the pinch of the credit crunch and the palm oil induced food price crisis.   Those that hurt the most immediately now threaten their right to bear arms by appearing to chose sides intractably.   If you were a middle eastern government in the post holocaust era wouldn't you have been a bit soft on the right of your people to possess and bear arms? Now all that empathy is being flushed down the chute for the sake of intolerance and cheap purchase of Western Support, all the cheaper for the fact of post 9/11 Western national expenditure.   A stupid and vacuous hand is being played by the 'pro-Western' governments of the Middle East and Israel.   A credible position would be to recommend the flat tax rate as solution to the Western Credit Crunch and avoid intractable population sacrificing International alliances.  What we are seeing from the ME instead is merely the flipside of Gaddafi's teasing Gold Standard not an intellectualism of a respectful strategic alternative.

Everything Russia wanted is coming to fruition.  Woman and children dying.  Way to go Russia and China.  How many more must die for your stupid war mongering ways.  So many stupid Russians trying to blame what is happening in Syria on western countries while their own government ships arms to Assad's death machine to kill its own people.  Please take a look at yourself in the mirror.

Israel smuggling weapons to Syria through Iraqi Kurdistan, sources say (unregistered) 10.06.2012 03:07

Israeli airplanes are smuggling weapons into Syria through Iraq's Kurdistan region, Syrian sources told Iraqi Media and Press TV.
According to the sources, Israel sends weapons to Iraqi Kurdistan, which are then smuggled into Syria with financial assistance from Qatar.

Ir aqi Kurdistan Regional Government President Massoud Barzani has facilitated the operations of illegal Israeli firms in the region.

B arzani also refused to hand over fugitive Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi, who is accused of involvement in terrorist attacks, to the Iraqi government and helped him flee from the country.

Hashemi, who is accused of running a terror squad in Iraq, flew to Turkey on April 10 after visiting Qatar and Saudi Arabia on the third leg of what he called an “official visit” to regional countries. He still resides in Turkey.
