British arms sales to Arab states slammed by MPs

Colonel Gaddafi could have used British-made weapons to slaughter hundreds of rebels in Libya. A new report by a parliamentary committee shows the UK had sold Libya almost US$100 million worth of weapons since the start of 2009.

 Due to the recent arms embargo on Libya Russia will loose $4 billion in proposed arm sales to the Gaddafi regime the contract included, combat planes, , The package of contracts signed in Moscow during the visit to Russia by Libyan Defense Minister Yunis Jaber in 2009 envisages the supply of 12 multi-purpose Su-35 fighters, six Yak-130 combat and training planes, the modernization of 145 T-72 tanks, and also the launch of a plant producing firearms, primarily Kalashnikov rifles of the Ak-100 series.  British arms sales in Libya were insignificant when compared to Russia.
