The President has attended a service on the 1020th anniversary of Christianity in Russia. It was held at the Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow. Speaking at the service, Dmitry Medvedev praised recent attempts to unite the Russian Orthodox Church.
Medvedev and Kirill, as Czar Putin's flunkies, continue trying to re-establish the Russian empire/Soviet Union. It is high time for the Russian people to give up on delusions of empire and to let go of Ukraine and all the other formerly and current Captive Nations. Even though the Russian people continue living under a totalitarian regime, that is their choice. Ukraine is a truly free country now, finally, after centuries of Russian oppression and the murders of many millions. Ukrainians, as the citizens of a sovereign state are entitled to their own foreign policy, alliances, national churches, national language, et al. The true history is that Muscovy, later called Russia, was an offshoot of Rus, now called Ukraine.
As a convert, my first experience with Orthodoxy was in a Russian style Orthodox Church, where most - including the priests were also American converts. I love the Russian language and liturgy. I'm sorry there is dissension. I did not know until I found this website. God save us all! I hope and pray there can be peace in Russia. God bless.

It's wonderful that Pres Medvedev is promoting unity among the Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, and other Orthodox churches. Roman Catholics have unity and that's why Pres Obama will visit the Pope. Apparently, he didn't visit with newly elected Patriarch Kirill. That should have been the responsibility of Pres Medvedev to arrange that meeting.
