China needs energy for its large population and manufacturing sector. Russia has the energy, no transit countries involved, and both are free from western cartels, so can negotiate in ernest - a big win for both countries!

This is a smart move if Russia can convince China to stop devaluing its currency in an attempt to prop up the dollar and maintain US demand. Instead, Russia and China should be happy to have stronger currencies than the US Dollar. Though it will be bad for exports, it will encourage domestic consumption and exports to other nations, and weaken the purchasing power of the US Dollar. While I'm an American and don't really like the idea of wal mart 'made in china' goods doubling in price, I also don't like to see other countries cheated by irresponsible borrowing and printing of money with no backing. That is right, the United States just prints money all day long and China would rather destroy its own money than to see a dip in demand for its products. NO, allow the dollar to crash and allow more responsible nations to replace that currency... just PLEASE do not get obsessed by the idea of a world currency run by the UN and the very same bankers who run the US and European Central Banks.
