A court in Thailand has granted bail of $US 16,000 to suspected Russian arms dealer, Viktor Bout. But he's not leaving jail as the second bail is expected.
Bout’s first attempt to get released from police custody was denied 10 days ago.
On Wednesday the court extended the time Bout could be held without charge by 12 days.
Dubbed the 'merchant of death’, Bout was arrested in Bangkok on March 6, at the request of U.S. authorities.
The 41-year-old is accused of illegally selling arms to groups in Latin America and Africa.
Bout denies trading weapons.
