27.02.2014 12:44

Ukraine’s swift abolition of the law allowing the country’s regions to make Russian a second official language has worried European MPs and officials, and has been condemned outright as a “violation of ethnic minority rights” by Russian diplomats.

Strange self-abnegation.

Another law the new "government&quo t; passed on the first day: They rescinded the ban on Nazi symbols. Now swastikas, etc are legal. Also, when the parliament voted to impeach Yanukovich, there were masked men with guns in the chamber. No wonder their vote was unanimous. Also, nsnbc (Danish site) says that the home of a member of parliament was broken into & he was told to hand over the list of those who were protesting against the Maidan protesters.

I was married for many years to A ukrainian russian speaking wife and her family and I was very close to her
and all russian primary speakers in the east.
So my sympathies are with such honest people and the need to keep Russian as an official language of Ukraine.
However i it is clear that Yanokovich is a demon
an anti-christ toal mafia and evil person that Mr. Putin
(whom I believe has a lot of honest integrity) should distance himself from.

Yea, and who pays the bill. EU fired up the revolution, and now invite Russia to provide financial help. They should block bank accounts of all members of Ukraine parliament that rulls today

Latvia is a EU country but Russian Language is outlawed there which shows the hypocrisy of EU as this situation is obviously a violation of ethnic minority rights by the Latvian government. This means Russian speaking Latvians cannot get a Latvian Passport which excludes them from certain jobs for example a fire fighter etc. unless they pass a difficult and costly Latvian language and history test.
This is absurd as approximately half the population are Russian speaking people who have lived all their lives in Latvia or were born there. EU should right this wrong by allowing Russian Language as official 2nd Language.

Although the EU has caused lots of trouble in the World and is a sinking ship economically ( Spain, Greece, Italy etc. ) EU is right about violation of ethnic minority rights regarding their opinion on the haste ( and illegal ) of abolishing Russian Language as official 2nd language in Ukraine.
"W hat hypocrisy though," the "EU" country called "Latvia" outlaws the use of Russian Language in "Latvia"ev en though approximately half the population of "Latvia" are Russian speaking people and cannot get a "Latvian" passport, though they were born there or lived most of their lives unless they pass a COSTLY TEST.

They should make Russian the number one language in Ukraine and let the people know who is the boss here!!

RonJames1980 28.02.2014 02:50

This was a very bad move by the new government. I am sure EU and US will not like this.
Svoboda and Right Sector should be banned from new government!

The EU diplomats are concerned over the proposed anti-Russian legislation that the illegal fascist regime in Kiev is plotting? How disingenuous can you be EU diplomats ? In fact, to be that disingenuous would indicate sociopathic and psychopathic tendencies.

exactly the same treatment russians have in Baltics EU states. In addition they gave russians non- citizen passports. So they could not vote and nothing coukd be changed. Latvia has 40% russians. There are no race discriminating laws against russians there than in nazi germany against jews.

Seems logical that if you live in Ukraine you should learn to speak the national language of that nation.

How exactly you imaging this working?. Only 3-10% knows ukranian. all official correspondence only in ukranian, courts, tax office, etc. How people should go about thier daily life? How many prifessions are restricted? Loyers, accountants, doctors. They are local several generations. People had this for years. They voted yanukovich for promissing the language. He did it. Only two years they had it. The first thing the coup did - took it away again. Racists

Radical extremist pull of a coup in Kiev Ukraine, as U.S. state department plots to install their people after the fall. If occupy protesters did that they would be arrest for disorderly conduct.

Ac tually if the "occupy protesters" were armed and beating and killing police in the US.The government would have shot them in the streets.Look at the history of American riots and you'll see the police have always used an iron hand to crush them before they got out of hand.
