A specific national plan of action should be created and countries should exchange information to combat human trafficking, said Alberto Andreani of the International Organization for Migration.
Fully agree with Count Cash. There is a need for action, not talk, talk and talk. Also, each government need to come up with an education campaign on TV, schools, workplaces to explain what the human trafficking is all about. Most people still do not understand the horrors of those who get caught in this nighmare. Real stories, not some sexual innuendos, are in order. Even this picture is OFFENSIVE. This is not about some sexy affair. The victims are beaten, raped, kept hungry, and locked-up. If they are lucky to get any employment through this racket, most of their earnings get collected by the criminals. Those who disobey, try to run away, or get sick, end up chopped up for illicit organs trade. May the mercy be on all those who end up in Kosovo. For from Kosovo, there is only a short ride accross the open border to Albania. There are plenty of "facilities" there that extract and then ship organs from their victims. The last invesigation attempted by none else but Carla Del Ponte, ended up with someone scuttling the investigation. When the news broke, Human Rights Watch was put in charge of "investigating". Good luck with that bunch. So if more information about the dangers is spread, the less gullable victims will be caught in their net.
While these people certainly are enslaved for sexual purposes, and certainly punishment of those caught enslaving human beings is in order, this is an education and an economic problem.
Efforts must be made to explain to women the dangers of traveling overseas to obtain employment and markets must be freed to allow enterprise to flourish.
Asking the very people who look the other way to take away more of a people's liberties in the vain hope that with these new police powers they'll be able to do what they should be doing now, is stupid.
Passing more laws and "getting tough" on former criminals will not prevent future enslavements.

Certainly planning is great, and intelligence is always a good starting point for action, however, we need action, not bureaucrats. That means having people in the field as agents, and putting the boot firmly into these evil groups who prey on women and kids. To be honest, the mode of operation is well known, their routes well known, and the people involved well known. It could never continue without the 'support' of corrupt law enforcement, and that is the same the world over. So what we need is independent special groups, dealing with this, the simple cash equation must be removed, the evil doers need to understand that they are in a dangerous game, with high risks to themselves, not a business, where you just buy a service to get you out of trouble. We should put more effort into protecting our citizens, by spending more money on hitting these groups very, very hard, to make the business unprofitable, for all involved. When I see a special alpha group dedicated to this activity, then I know we are starting to get serious about protecting our women and children, until then it is talk, and business as usual. I worry sharing information is part of a charade of doing nothing! Let's see a bit of action instead!
