Old sails were made into wagon covers and ultimately original Levi's Jeans. And the pressed oil from hemp seeds was used for paints and varnishes.Everyone knew what hemp was. But nobody knew what marijuana was.Basically, it came down to this. America in the 1900's saw two powerful rivals, agriculture and industry, faced off over several multi-billion dollar markets. When Rudolph Diesel produced his engine in 1896, he'd assumed it would run off of vegetable and seed oils, especially hemp, which is superior to petroleum. Just think about that for a second. A fuel that can be grown by our farmers that is superior to foreign oil. Yeah . Definetely, man, the patents held on raw-oil-processing-p rocedures - especially by the DuMont corporation - may only guarantee such monopolistic power scheme, as seen and experienced worldwide, as long oil is strictly believed to be the only fluidum of economical growth. So all of course is about oppression and propaganda.
Indeed the cannabis based ressource gaining and power supply is the death to the three major dictatorships: the Financy-, the Pharmacology- and the Military-Industrial- Complex.

just for the record, being dutch, there isnt a single coffeeshop that has drinks and pot on the same menu.. they are seperate menu's.however, the tourism will not stop. the dealers  will change to the streets. already using the goverment issued flyers to tell foreigners 'you see, you can only get it off me' all this will turn out as a massive promotion for street dealers that where as good as non-existing in my country until now.
about the negative weed postings: i have been smoking for 25 years and i am a highly skilled scripter. the weed is instead of ritalin and several other pharmacy company controlled drugs. i get my weed from the pharmacy as medical marihuana or from the coffeeshop if i can't be bothered to goto the pharmacist. any drug, man made or grown in nature can be abused. don't blame the drug.

@Peter Jennins.If a government legalizes drugs,all drugs,then drugs in that country would be as cheap as the source country and therefore no drug cartel or dealers and that will eliminate the criminal elements and people no longer have to steal or rob,because drugs are available and cheap.Cheap drugs doesn`t mean,I will give up my vodka or cigar and take up heroin or meth.This is the logic used by USA,in order to maintain drugs illegal,so "Patriats"can earn money to wage wars.Russia and China are becoming prosperous and drug cartels are trying to promote coke in both countries.If Russia,China or any country that don`t wish drug problems on their door steps,then educate your people through media and Cinema and other educational means about harmful sides of drug addiction,but do not illegalize it.You just create criminals out of an addict.

Your either for cannabis or against it. You can't have one law for one and one for another, it doesn't work.

The Dutch gov't need to decide pretty quickly which side they are actually on. If it's dealers coming and going, then that's a different matter to a tourist who wants to stay a while and have a smoke and spent his/her money in a Dutch town/city. What's so bad about that?

The only reason it is illegal in the UK is because the gov't make so much more from it that way through fining the behaviour or creating criminals out of normal, and usually hard-working, people.

Even their own scientists have told them their so-called top ten of nasties is so ludicrous it's laughable and only decrepid old ladies believe it. Not to mention the beneficial effects of said plant. Perhaps they would rather us drink more so we won't care about the mess they are making of our societies?

I thought good logical common-sense was prevailing over in Holland. Maybe the judge should consider having the UK's beer culture instead and see how the country gets on with that nightmare.

Opportunity of a lifetime:)If I was a politician in a neighbouring country, I would propose the government recreat the Dutch model. It would significantly buffer the state coffers. The Dutch politicians have clearly lost the plot

In the same time we are world champions in the consumption of pills for soul sicknesses...  These dont bother the prohibitionists... These are good and are not called ...drugs so conveniently but medecine !!  So all the cannabis someone can find in Greece is imported from the Balkans from criminals and it is the worse poison one can imagine... Only relation that it has with cannabis is that they are both green.. And without control young people use it all over and get destroyed !!   They turned in laboratories a plant in to a chemical disaster  and they sell that all over poisoning the people... That is the result of their war against the pot users...  Medical cannabis with a doctors paper and a permit from the state is a solution a beleive. This way you take away the adult and needing from the hands of the mafia and you control the things. It is said that with medical cannabis 80% of the heroin and other hard drug users will save their souls and be helped to escape disaster...  Who are we to neglect the natural Godly creation and reject a plant with such a hate ? I read sometime ago that Russia is very much for HEMP production...  Russia sounds like a cold breeze in between the fire of the fanatics and their fixed ideas.

In the U.S. the Constitution does not prohibit drug use, and George Washington was said to say to sow the magic indian seeds wherever you go. I have smoked plenty and don't have any use for it anymore as it makes me uncomfortable, but I believe a man can do what he wants if it doesn't harm another, and that is what our Constitution says. Unfortunately, the Zionists want full control of everything and everybody. Shame on them.

I just find it so interesting how many pot smokers we have among the RT viewership.
