No locks or drugs: alternative treatment for mentally ill

The treatment of mentally disabled people in Russia has traditionally been carried out by the government, but private institutions offer alternative forms that that might turn out to be way more effective and humane.

Anything that helps these people, I would support 100%. Mental illness is very often shuned and hidden. No one cares admiting they have a broken leg, everyone understands that, the sympathy is forthcoming. However, not many people want to face mental illness, or deal with a mentaly ill person. They become the forgotten ones hidden away, instead of ill people, who we should help as much as we can. This approach is nice, and I am sure benefits many of its patients. For anyone who has a huge mind workload, we all know the benefits of physical labour or excercise to rebalance our outlook, and get us physically active rather than mentally active. It provides our mind the rest it needs. So I intuitively can feel the benefit of such a treatment. I would however add a caution, that like all treatments, it is not a panacea for everyone, there are some conditions, that this treatment could be totally unacceptable for, both for themselves and their fellow patients. However, there is definitely too big a drive to medicate, driven by financial gain. If this treatment can help people without medication, then it is a wonderful thing for the patients. I wish them all a succesful treatment, to get better, so that they can truly realise themselves.
