I think they are talking about Halon also..as far as I know freon would not be a poisonus gas either.

Neither Freon nor Halon are poisonous. They simply are not air, and thus will suffocate you if you try to breathe them. Nitrogen, hydrogen, helium, CO2, or any other gas will do the same thing.






They are likely referring to halon, not freon. Halon is used to suppress fires in equipment rooms. Freon is the refrigerant used in air conditioners and refrigerators.
