Nov 7th should be the day remembering the October Revolution, it is strange that it was a particular military parade during WW2 that was remembered instead, in face that particular parade was to commemorate the 1917 Revolution

Thank you Russia for keeping the memories of the heroic Red Army alive! Their heroic deeds- exacting the first military defeat of Fascist army of the Third Reich- must never be forgotten. Glory to the Red Army! P/S. Pasha, I think the modern Russia still respects the October Revolution. However, there would have no memory of the revolution if the Fascist managed to enter Moscow as they were determined to do. Thanks to the heroic efforts of the Red Army, the fascist army came to Moscow as prisoners of War!

Glory to the Red Army and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics! I second Sarah, they heroic actions saved Europe from Hitler's Nazis and defeated Fascism. Never shall we forget the what the Red Army did for mankind! Glory to the Red Army! You know, when I think of that Parade... It must have been something, Nazis storming the frontiers, pounding at the gates and still the glorious Red Army marched in celebration. Fear, they had none. And from there they marched right up to the Nazis, not only holding them back from Moscow, but pushing them all the way to Berlin where the Red Army ended Hitler's reign. Ah, the glory....

The eventual victory against the fascists is a monumental achievement of the Soviet people and their leadership. The victory came because the Soviet people could understand the significance of their unity and patriotism. We, the younger genererations are indeed grateful to all those who sacrificed their lives so that we can be free. Glory to the Red Army!!!

Wars are not good at all. Too many people get killed [CALLED CASUALTYS] and too many people, who don't fight, get richer. It is the nature of the beast. An end to all wars can be achieved by doing what is just for all concerned. All FUTURE WARS should be fought by the people who have the power to start the wars. For example, the WAR IN IRAQ could have been very easily prevented by allowing Saddam Hussein and George W. Bush to fight it out personally to determine the winner. This way many thousands of young people's lives could have been saved. Also, it will lessen the appetite for war. A war could be set up where the American congress fights the Iranian congress and so forth. Any possible future confilct with the Russian Federation and the USA could be fought by Obama against Putin PERSONALLY, no need to involve the young military people, etc.

RedOne, I agree with your assertion that the Red Army saved the Soviet Union from the evil of a fascist rule-which would have meant not only colonistion of the nations of the Soviet Union- but the domination of Europe and the rest of the world. Due to the Cold War propaganda in both in the East and the West- today, outside of educated circles- majority of populations in the West and for the matter the rest of the world- have little knowledge that the Red Army and by extension the Soviet Union Union-won WWII. This must change that now Russia is rising and has the economic means to produce new movies and historical books about the centrality of Soviet effort in the defeat of fascism in WII. One the hopeful signs is now one can watch plethora of actual footages of the battle for Moscow, Stalingrad and Leningrad in You Tube! Russia Today will do well to add to this by uploading some of these historical documentaries and linking them up with its website. I hope there will more offerings in this site about Russia’s history, culture
